It is important that a child has access to proper nutrition and quality primary healthcare. This helps in the short-term as well as long-term development of all children. To help ensure proper physical, mental and cognitive growth, children must have a timely and regular intake of essential nutrition. From the time of conception to the formative years, a child must have an adequate intake of nutrition to help avoid any complications, especially those health issues that may cause irreversible damage to the child’s well-being. Children who do not get timely immunizations are also prone to recurring diseases and may face stunted growth.

A child’s socio-economic background must not affect their health in any way as all children deserve proper healthcare and a healthy childhood. But UNICEF 2019 shows that 2 of 3 child deaths, below the age of 5, are caused by malnutrition. This situation has only gotten worse due to the closure of government healthcare centres & midday meal systems during the lockdown. India has the highest number of malnourished children in the world at 48.2 million and the pandemic has ...
... deteriorated their condition.

NFHS 4, 2016 shows that every 3rd child in India, under 5 years of age, is underweight so to help address the issue of malnutrition in India, CRY has been working relentlessly to protect children from more harm. CRY, India’s most trusted NGO, has been partnering with the local government system and healthcare workers to improve the ongoing situation. The NGO has also been addressing the nutritional needs of children and conducting regular surveys to help the families access ration cards etc. In 2020-21, CRY’s continuous efforts helped prevent malnutrition in 86% of children, under the age of 5 years, in CRY project areas.

You can donate to NGO CRY and help make a real difference to protect children from marginalized communities. You can also save tax and avail an exemption under 80G of the Income Tax Act. It is time we protect children from malnutrition and save tax. Give the gift of health to children and help them survive in a COVID world. Donate now as no contribution is too small for India’s most vulnerable children!
