Why Trenchless Pipe Lining Is A Cost Effective Repair Method
One of the biggest headaches for any property owner is when they find they have old and damaged pipes which are causing problems. Leaks can develop over time, becoming large problems, such as pipes bursting, maybe even flooding your home.
Some countries and areas have outdated and very degraded pipes with older properties having iron or clay pipes, dating back centuries. PVC pipes also break down over time due to ground shifting, normal wear and tear and tree root growth, all of which can cause serious problems.
The smallest leak should not be ignored and be repaired as soon as possible n order to save money in the long run. Not to mention water loss due to a leak, which can cost considerably more for water usage then you would normally use.
If a pipe inspection discovers a leak or another problem, you have an important decision to make. There are two choices, you can repair or replace the pipe. Traditional methods involve excavation and pipe replacement, but the least invasive option can save you hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollars for both home and business owners.
In order to understand how ...
... trenchless pipe lining is beneficial and can save you money, you need a better understanding on how traditional repairs work. Traditional methods date back a long time, where contracts dig deep trenches in the ground, the length of the damaged pipe. This involves expensive machinery and moving tons of dirt.
It takes a lot of resources to find the damaged pipe, dig down to reach it and then replace or repair it. One of the problems with traditional pipe repair is that it turns your entire home into a construction site. The yard will be dug up, whether there is paving or landscaping.
The areas of your yard, drive or paths that are not affected by the digging, will have some damage due to the heavy machinery being moved around. Each piece of equipment can damage gardens, lawns and landscaping.
Your expense will increase when the contractors are finished and have filled in their holes. Once the pipe is repaired and the holes are filled, their job is done, they do not have to restore your property, which means this is a cost to the owner.
If you own a business, traditional repair methods can be even worse, making your business almost inaccessible. It can block traffic, while leaving yo with the bill to replace sidewalks and parking lots.
Then there is trenchless pipe lining, but what is it? Thanks to technology advancements, there is a less expensive and less time consuming solution to your pipe repair that will not cause the damage caused by traditional methods. This method enables you to repair sections of the pipe or the entire pipe.
The process starts with contractors using a camera to identify the problem, this way they are able to make recommendations on whether to line the entire pipe or just the damaged section.
Lateral pipe lining is the most common method to repair damaged pipes. There is two holes dug, one on either end of the pipe, providing the contractors wit access. From the access point they run cameras and use equipment to clear blockages and debris.
A resin epoxy is mixed and is poured into a liner, which is then pulled into place within the pipe. The liner is inflated using compressed air, which allows the epoxy to coat the interior of the damaged pipe, basically creating a strong internal barrier, or a pipe within a pipe.
The epoxy is allowed to cure and the two holes are filled, enabling you to use your pipes as normal.
