Benefits Of Using Solar Energy At Home
If you are living in a sunny region and your house has good sun exposure. Away from tall buildings and trees that can block the sun from your house. Then it can be worthwhile to invest into solar panels. As a solar energy user for 9 years now, I’d like to share the advantages that I get to enjoy since I started using it.
1. Reduce energy bills. Generating your own electricity for your household means you will be using less electricity from the utility supplier. As we all know, electricity from a power plant is expensive and expected to continue to increase its price in future. Reducing or eliminating this recurring monthly bill can greatly help your household’s finances. You can allocate the money for electricity bills to other important things. Like food, children’s tuition fees, or savings.
2. Eco-friendly. Unlike power plants that use fossil fuels to generate energy, solar power is clean, emissions-free, and a renewable energy source. It does not produce pollutants in the air or water which is one of the main causes of pollution and global warming. Therefore, using solar energy helps save the environment ...
... and good for the planet.
3. Increase your home value. Houses with solar panels have a higher value than residences with conventional electricity systems. According to the recent studies, there is an average increase in resell value of $4,000 to $6,000 for every kilowatt of solar panels installed. Moreover, homes with solar panels installation sell faster than houses that are not equipped with solar power.
4. Lets you save money. Although the initial cost of installing solar panels can be significant, there is an impressive return of investment from it. Governments offer tax credits and rebates to support and encourage people to invest in solar energy power. For instance, in the USA 26% of the total system and installation cost can be claimed back as a federal tax credit when filing taxes. Moreover, you can sell the unused energy that you generate to utility companies and earn money. Then of course you’ll have savings that you get from reduced or zero electricity bills.
Installing solar panels is a one-time payment with benefits you can enjoy for many years. The good thing about it is that if you have a limited budget you can start small. For instance, installing just few panels at first to cover house lights and phone charging. Then you can add more panels slowly until there are sufficient to power the whole house. Including the air conditioning systems, computers, and all appliances.
