Not everyone is as fortunate in love as Mumtaz and Shah Jahan. “God separates the two lovers, and he had no idea that they would become the talk of the town,” Agra is identified with Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal itself defines love; unlike any other work of art or monument, it represents the beauty of eternal love. There is, nevertheless, a "world" beyond this beautiful structure that gives endless fuel for Agra sightseeing endeavours. It is an emblem of India, attracting millions of tourists each year to the city of Agra. This breath-taking landmark is every bit as amazing as you'd hoped.

The Taj Mahal is only one of many wonderful attractions in Agra. While in Agra, you can see the historically significant Agra Fort, the astoundingly magnificent Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, one of India's largest mosques at Fatehpur Sikri, and Mehtab Bagh, a tranquil park in the shadows of the Taj. Not only it has forts Agra is home to two human wildlife programmes (the Agra Bear Rescue Center and the Elephant Conservation and Care Center) that invite visitors to learn about some of India's most cherished creatures.

Things To Do In Agra
Taj Mahal – Elegance of Agra

The Taj Mahal, one of the world's seven wonders, is situated on the banks of the Yamuna River in Agra. It was created as a memorial for Shah Jahan's third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. It also houses Shah Jahan's personal mausoleum. It is one of the most stunning monuments in the world, built completely of white marble in the 17th century. Every year, more than the whole population of Agra passes through the majestic gates in order to see this amazing monument!
It is the world's most interesting love monument. A visit to this white marble tomb erected by Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal is one of the top things to do in Agra for couples and everyone else, thanks to its stunning architecture. Visit this monument early in the morning to see its ethereal splendour against the rising sun and avoid the crowds.
Fees - 50 rupees for Indians, 1100 rupees for foreign citizens, and 200 rupees for mausoleum access for all. Children under the age of 15 are admitted free of charge.
Timings - 30 minutes prior to sunrise to 30 minutes prior to sunset; closed on Fridays.
Fatehpuri Sikri - An Architecturally Outstanding Ancient City

One of the must-see attractions in Agra is Fatehpur Sikri. It was the former capital city of numerous Mughal Emperors, including Akbar, and is located in the district of Agra. Sikri was a run-down village before becoming the capital. In honour of Emperor Akbar's conquest over Gujarat in the year 1573, it was given its current name. Fatehpur Sikri is built on a 3 km long and 1 km wide granite ridge with Persia, Indian, and Islamic architecture. The village was built using red sandstone quarried locally. The village is surrounded by a 6-kilometer-long perimeter wall with seven gates. The region is home to a variety of landmarks, including royal palaces, private quarters, harems, various utility buildings, courts, and mosques, all created using Indian architectural principles.
Fees - 40 rupees for Indians, 550 rupees for foreign nationals. Children under the age of 15 are admitted free of charge.
Timings – 6.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m, closed on Fridays
Agra Fort - Amazing Light and Sound Show

The Agra Fort, which was once the magnificent abode of India's Mughal Emperors, is a masterpiece of architecture. Explore the Moti Masjid, Musamman Burj, Diwan-i-Khas, Shahjahani Mahal, and Jahangiri Mahal, among the old fort's remarkable monuments and features. Inside this fort, you may see one of the best light and sound performances in India in the nights. The programme takes you on a journey into the past of the fort, complete with stunning images and music.
"Grandeur is in the eyes of the beholder," as the saying goes, and the mind-blowing beauty of Agra Fort may be seen here. With a rich historical past, this towering fort is one of Agra's most popular tourist destinations. This fort, which covers 94 acres, has four gates: the Khizri Gate, Delhi Gate, Lahore Gate, and Amar Singh Gate. The magnificent edifice exhibits stunning Hindu and Mughal artistry, and visiting this fort is one of the top things to do in Agra.
Fees: 70 rupees for Indians, 200 rupees for foreign nationals, and 40 rupees for students.
Time of the Light and Sound Show: 30 minutes after sunset, every day (Show in Hindi followed by English).
Bear Rescue Centre

India has a complex relationship with animals, from its veneration for cows to temples dedicated to certain animals. However, not all traditions have been nice to four-legged animals. Dancing sloth bears, for example. For thousands of years, India's Kalandar clan has poached sloth bear cubs, forcing them to put on terrible "performances" for a paying audience by driving a red hot poker and coarse rope through their muzzles and yanking on the string. In 1972, India made the practise illegal. The cruelty, however, continued, forcing animal rights organisations like Wildlife SOS to save the bears.
Around 200 of these rescued dancing bears may be seen at the Agra Bear Rescue Centre. It allows guests to visit the facility for three two-hour sessions per day, which include a guided tour, a documentary screening about the rescue operations, and a chance to view the bears playing, foraging, and climbing trees. It's a moving experience, and all revenues benefit rehabilitation initiatives.
Entry Fee – 1500.
Time – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Elephant Conservation and Care Centre

Wildlife SOS isn't just concerned with sloth bears; at a refuge about 30 kilometres outside of Agra, the animal rescue organisation also looks after abused elephants. Around 20 rescued elephants who were forced to labour in difficult conditions can be seen during tours of the facility. Tourists who are lucky enough may be asked to assist the tusked creatures in preparing their lunch. While some were privately owned and had a horrible history of being used for begging, others spent a lifetime in captivity and confinement as temple elephants or were being coerced to participate in circuses, all of the elephants at Elephant Conservation Care Centre were saved from tremendous hardship.
These gorgeous creatures may finally live their days comfortably, with frequent showers, a nutritious meal, and good veterinary care, as they are no longer compelled to bear heavy loads or travel on heated pavements. The centre is surrounded by natural vegetation, with ample open areas for their daily walks and various trees to scratch themselves, bringing it the closest to the elephants' native habitat. The elephants have unrestricted access to water pools where they can bathe and play in the water at their leisure.
Entry Fee – 1500
Timing – 10.00 a.m. to 05.00 p.m.
Kinaari Bazaar – A flawless place for shopaholic

The Kinari Bazaar, or "Buzzing Market," is well-stocked with all the necessities and traditional items. A fantastic site for a shopaholic, as you can find anything from lehengas to dupattas to salwar kameez to kurtas and sherwanis here. The vibrant clothes, exquisitely interwoven with gold and silver, will take your breath away as you enter the market. You will always leave with a bag full of products since this market never fails to enchant you.
Shopping in the city's numerous shopping centres is a must-do on any visit to Agra. Rare artefacts, extinct handicrafts, and souvenirs can all be found in the traditional bazaars. Bric-a-Brac, a popular marble imitation of the Taj Mahal, is of great importance.
Subhash Bazaar, Kinari Bazaar, Raja ki Mandi, and Sadar Bazaar are among the city's largest bazaars.
Fees - NA
Timings – NA
