The Kshira Sagara is basically the ocean of milk. Lord Vishnu is seen with goddess Laxmi sitting towards his feet on the serpent.

According to other Hindu texts, Vedas or Puranas there are many stories about the birth or existence of Lord Vishnu. The eternal divine is believed to be self-originated or appeared in different forms as by his incarnations.

There are namely ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu which are popularly known as ‘Dashavatara’ by Hindu devotees. The incarnations are Krishna, Rama, Parshurama, Narasimha, Vaman, Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Buddha and last but not the least ‘Kalki’ which is destined to appear in kalyug. Among all Krishna and Rama are the most famous incarnations whose stories known as ‘Bhagwat Katha’ and ‘Rama Katha’ are recited by sages and Brahmans.

As per the pictorial representation, Lord Vishnu is always beautifully portrayed as the god with blue-colored skin which contrasts with yellow-colored attire known as ‘Pitambari’. Yellow is the favorite color of Vishnu. The icon of Vishnu is extremely captivating with four hands holding a Sudarshan Chakra, a conch shell, a lotus flower and a gada. A stunning piece of garland with a Kaustubh gem adorns the neck. Vishnu also wears a Vaijyanti mala which is one of his favorites. Additionally, Vishnu murti is loaded with gold jewelry throughout his body with a grand crown on the head.

Cleanliness attracts positivity, so the space around the idol should always be clean and rid of garbage.

Worship should be done in clean clothes, recitation of Vishnu Sahastranam and Narayana mantra is advisable.

As part of the ritual, incense sticks, lamps, mango leaves, kumkum, turmeric, akshata, Gangajal, ghee, tulsi are required for pooja. Then as a part of offerings fruits, flowers, sweets coconut, curd, honey, milk and betel nut for Panchamrit are required.

At last, the pooja should be completed by performing Lord Vishnu and Laxmi aarti accompanied by the ringing bells.
