The Processes of Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy provides the Gi doctor to review the health condition of the patient. Thereby he/she can suggest to the patient whether surgery is needed or not. Perhaps it seems to the patient that colonoscopy screening is dangerous, however, the whole process only takes one hour or so.
Initially, the doctor restricts the patient’s diet for 24 hours before the screening, known as Bowel preparation. Although, the patient can consume liquids such as coffee or soft drinks. Then, the doctor injects the patient with a sedative. Hence the patient remains unawake during the procedure. Thereafter, the doctor inserts a colonoscope across the rectum. It is a tube-like instrument attached with a camera and a light on the top of it. Therefore, they can check into your colon and know the condition of the patient. If needed, the doctors may take a sample from it for biopsy.

Conclusion
The whole colonoscopy screening takes not more than 20-30 minutes. Along with extra 30 minutes for the patient to wake up from the sedatives. After taking complete rest for a day, the patient can eat regular meals as well. Also the patient needs to inform the doctor beforehand. Otherwise they will be unable to know if he/she has some addiction or already going through some medications. Hence the doctor can prescribe accordingly, in turn diagnosing the Patient’s health condition appropriately.
