Planting Conditions Of Cherry
Cherry is a transliteration of the English word cherry. They are literally translated as "chelizi" in Taiwan, Guangdong and Hong Kong. However, it does not refer to a small red skinned Chinese cherry, but a large thick skinned imported cherry produced in the United States, Canada, Chile and other American countries. At present, China also has the introduction of chelizi fruit trees, but it has not yet formed a scale. The environmental conditions required for chelizi planting are as follows:
Temperature
Cherry is a deciduous fruit tree that likes temperature but is not resistant to cold. Chinese chelizi is native to the Yangtze River Basin in China. It adapts to the warm and humid climate and has weak cold resistance. Therefore, it is more cultivated in the Yangtze River Basin and the warmer microclimate areas in the north. Sweet cherries and sour cherries are native to West Asia and Europe. They are suitable for cool and dry climate. They are suitable for cultivation in North China, Northwest China and South Northeast China. However, high temperature and drying in summer are unfavorable to the growth of sweet cherry. ...
... The minimum temperature in winter shall not be lower than - 20. Too low temperature will cause longitudinal crack and glue flow of big branches. In addition, flower buds are vulnerable to freezing injury. When the temperature drops below - 3 ℃ during flowering, the flowers will be damaged by freezing. Therefore, when developing cherizi, it is not suitable to be in excessively cold areas.
Water content
Cherry is very sensitive to water conditions, and it is neither drought resistant nor waterlogging resistant. In addition to the abundant rainfall in the southern provinces, the cultivation areas of chelizi in China mostly choose the areas with humid hillside, gully and microclimate in the north. From the point of view of the cultivation and distribution areas of sweet cherries all over the world, they are mostly selected in the near river basin or near the coastal area. At present, the main cultivation areas of sweet cherries in China are mostly distributed in Yantai, Shandong, Dalian, Liaoning and other places in the Bohai Bay. These two places are close to the sea, with an annual rainfall of 600 ~ 900 mm and relatively humid air. However, this does not limit the cultivation of sweet cherries in areas with low rainfall. For example, Yakima and weinach in Washington state, the annual rainfall is no more than 250mm, and the rainfall in the growing season is no more than 150mm. Ukrainian sweet cherries are mainly distributed in summer arid areas along the coast of the Black Sea, with an annual rainfall of no more than 300 mm. There is little rainfall from July to September, but these areas have appropriate temperature, sufficient light and good irrigation conditions. Sweet cherries grow well, with high quality and high yield. Like other drupes, cherizi requires higher oxygen for its roots. If there is too much soil water and insufficient oxygen, it will affect the normal respiration of the roots, and the tree can not grow and develop normally, resulting in rotten roots and glue flow, which will seriously lead to the death of the tree. If the rain is heavy and the waterlogging is not drained in time, if the cherimoya tree is immersed in the water for 2 days, the leaves will wilt, saw tooth greenhouse but will not fall off, the wilting of the leaves will not recover, and even cause the death of the whole tree.
Illumination
Cherimoya is a light loving tree species, especially sweet cherimoya, followed by sour cherimoya and hairy cherimoya. Chinese cherimoya is more shade tolerant. When the light conditions are good, the tree body is strong, the life of fruit branches is long, the flower buds are full, the fruit setting rate is high, the fruit ripens early, the coloring is good, the sugar degree is high, and the sour taste is less. When the light conditions are poor, the tree body is easy to grow in vain, the branches in the crown are weak, the service life of fruiting branches is short, the fruiting parts move outward, the flower buds are poorly developed, the fruit setting rate is low, the fruit color is poor, the fruit ripens late and the quality is poor. Therefore, the sunny slope and semi sunny slope should be selected when building the garden. The planting density should not be too large. The branches should be opened at an angle to ensure the lighting conditions inside the canopy and achieve ventilation and light transmission.
Soil
Sweet cherry is suitable for cultivation in sandy loam or gravelly loam with deep soil layer, loose soil, good air permeability and strong water retention. When cultivated in clay soil, the root system is shallow, not resistant to drought, waterlogging and wind. Cherries are very sensitive to the degree of salinization, and the suitable soil pH value is 5.6 ~ 7. Therefore, cherries should not be planted in saline alkali areas.
Cherry is easy to suffer from root cancer, while root cancer bacteria and nematodes in the soil are easy to infect root cancer. Old orchards planted with cherries, peaches, grow lights plums and apricots have a lot of root cancer bacteria in the soil, so cherries should not be planted, let alone used as nurseries for the development of cherries. If the seedlings have root cancer, it will cause more serious consequences.
Wind
The root system of cherizi is generally shallow and has poor wind resistance. In severe winter and early spring, strong wind is easy to dry branches and freeze flower buds; During flowering, strong wind is easy to dry stigma mucus and affect insect pollination; Typhoons in summer and autumn will cause branches to break and trees to fall, resulting in greater losses. Therefore, in areas with strong winds, we must build windbreak forests or choose areas with good small environment to build gardens.
