Nsw Registration For Professional Engineers To Work On Class 2 Buildings
If you are a professional engineer working on class 2 buildings, you must have NSW Registration to keep working as a professional engineer. This new system came into effect on 1 July 2021.
As a program of reformation, the new scheme of NSW Registration works for the restoration of confidence in the residential construction industry. This reformation program also makes sure that the apartments being built are worth-trusting. Now, let’s move ahead to know more about the Design and Building Practitioners Act.
NSW Registration for Design and Building Practitioner
Every engineer must have this registration to work as a Design or Building Practitioner on a class 2 building. The following are the three variations of Design and Building Practitioners:
Design Practitioner: taking the responsibility of making design compliance declarations.
Principal Design Practitioner: This is an optional role for the coordination and collection of designs and declarations from other practitioners. On behalf of the building practitioner, they can lodge these documents. When a principal design practitioner ...
... is not hired, the chosen delegate or the building practitioner will lodge the documents.
Building Practitioner: a building practitioner oversees building work. They hold the responsibility of making building compliance declarations and lodging documents. The building practitioner has to lodge declared designs and a building compliance declaration before they apply for the occupation certificate. A design or principal design practitioner can’t do this.
Class 2 buildings are residential apartment buildings. They are usually multi-unit residential buildings in which people live above or below each other. The people have specific rules for the protection of health, safety, and welfare of every occupant.
A mixed-use building that contains a class 2 part is also included. It means that the requirements apply to work on every part of the buildings, not only the class 2 part.
