Men have come a long way since they wore the same outfit for centuries - a pants shirt. Men now have a plethora of options to choose from, thanks to the invasion of foreign fashion concepts and the inspired invention of designers. We've seen western trends influence men's dressing styles for a long time, but traditional Indian wear is gaining popularity recently. Designers have given traditional styles a completely new look. These men's clothes are now more upbeat and ideal for special occasions.

When it comes to traditional attire, men have several options. Some of them are listed below:

Sherwani

This outfit has a classic look to it. It is ideal for wearing on special occasions. A Sherwani is a long coat-like garment that resembles an achkan. It fits snugly around the body and is buttoned all the way up to the collar. The Sherwani is usually below the knee length and has a slit in the center. The style is mostly accentuated with various types of embroidery such as stones, sequins, and so on.

Kurta Pyjama

This is one of the most common men's clothes in India. The Kurta is a long, loose shirt ...
... that falls to the knees. The Pyjama is a lightweight, loose-fitting drawstring trouser. Men prefer to wear this attire in cotton material, but it is also available in silk and satin for more formal occasions. The outfit is appropriate for both formal and informal occasions.

Lungi

This is a popular attire in India's south. It is essentially a short length of material worn around the thighs, similar to a Sarong. The white cotton lungi is worn with a long kurta and, on occasion, an Angavastram or stole.

Dhoti

Dhoti is one of India's most well-known traditional garments for men. This is a long rectangular piece of cloth that is intricately wrapped around the waist and legs. A dhoti can be worn in approximately 60 different ways. As with the sari, each region in India has its own way of wrapping it. A dhoti is typically white or cream in color, but it is now available in a variety of other hues. It is typically worn with a kurta as the top, and the ensemble is known as a 'Dhoti Kurta.'

Jodhpuris

These are among the most elegant outfits in the collection of Indian traditional wear. They should be drawstring pants with a loose fit around the thighs and a fit from the knees to the ankle. They are embellished with a variety of embroidery techniques such as phulkari, zardoji, and other heavy embroidery styles.

To enhance the appearance of these styles, men usually wear a stole or a pagadhi with it. These add to the elegance of the outfit. Clothes for men today have taken on a completely new look, which has changed the way men style themselves.

Men’s Clothing - A Growing and Changing Notion

The growth of the fashion and clothing industries over the last decade has been phenomenal. This expansion is accelerating in both women's and men's apparel. Men's clothing is a growing and ever-changing aspect of men's fashion.

The old notion that men would wear anything that they randomly stumble upon in their closet and blindly enter shops and purchase the items closest to the exit no longer holds true. Also, men these days are not only worried about what they wear but their personality as a whole. This includes everything right from clothes, underwear, accessories, and shoes. It's not just what they wear but how they look on a whole that men these days are concerned with. No longer are they content with just a pair of jeans and a t-shirt., they now want to accessorize their look and make it complete! Like their opposite gender, they too are always aware of what is in fashion and what last season's trend was. It's this attention to detail that has seen the men's apparel section in malls and stores grow exponentially.

Fashion dresses for men are usually traditional items

Fashion dresses for men are usually traditional items of clothing for Indian men. There are a number of different traditional dresses worn by Indian men. Some of these dresses include the sherwani which is essentially just a coat-like garment, fitted close to the body, of knee-length or longer and opening in front with button-fastenings. Below the sherwani, men wear loose pants that are held together by a string. It is an incredibly elegant dress for men and mostly worn during ceremonies or at important functions. This traditional dress is extremely popular in the north of India. The entire dress is filled with delicate embroidery. In fact, it's usually by the embroidery alone that you can tell the place where the dress is from. The traditional cotton lungi which is worn by men is another popular Indian dress. It is simply a short length of material worn around the thighs rather like a sarong.

However, by far the most popular Indian dress when it comes to Indian men is the kurta. Kurta's for men are available in a number of different styles and colors. However, the most popular kurta is the plain white long-sleeved kurta. While Indian men previously only wore this kurta at night or for important occasions they've now started wearing them as a semi-formal ensemble. Kurtas are usually worn along with pajamas. Pyjamas are like loose trousers with a string that's tied at the waist and are traditionally white in color. However many youth are now wearing these kurta's along with jeans and have also begun sporting short-sleeved kurta's

Bottom Line

Whether it's traditional clothing or different aspects of apparel like perfumes and accessories it is fairly evident that apparel for men as a whole has grown a lot over the last decade and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon!
