Gardenia, also known as Lin Lan, Mu Dan, Yue Tao and Mu Hengzhi, belongs to Rubiaceae and evergreen shrub

Gardenia is white and fragrant. It can be seen and worn. Its fruit can also be used as medicine. It has the effect of anti-inflammatory and detoxification. In addition, Gardenia jasminoides leaves are green and have the ability to resist smoke and sulfur dioxide trim tray pollen. It is an ideal environmental protection and greening flower.

Gardenia is native to southwest China. At present, the main cultivated varieties and varieties are Gardenia grandiflorum (also known as Gardenia grandiflorum), with large leaves, large flowers, double petals and strong fragrance; Gardenia jasminoides, short plants, small flowers, small leaves, double petals; Single sparrow tongue, small leaves, small flowers, single, mostly wild. There are also egg leaf gardenia and small leaf gardenia.

1. Soil: it is suitable to cultivate in rich and fertile acidic soil containing humus, which is the key to successful ...
... planting in northern families. Generally, rotten leaf soil and rotten bean cake fertilizer can be selected, and a certain amount of ferrous sulfate can be added at the same time, or 0.2% ferrous sulfate or alum fertilizer water can be soaked for 3 to 5 times after being put into the basin.

2. Cultivation: cuttings and layering seedlings shall be used for planting to ensure that the root system of the plant is fully stretched. At the same time, the gap in the root system shall be filled with fine soil. The density of the filled soil shall be about 85%, and it shall be tight at the bottom and loose at the top, with a depth of about 1 cm above the root system. After planting, water shall be poured in time, and the water seepage at the bottom of the pot is generally appropriate.

3. Management and maintenance: Gardenia requires high air humidity. The principle of watering is dry and thorough. It is better to water with rainwater, snow water or fermented rice washing water. During the growth period, water containing 0.2% ferrous sulfate or alum fertilizer is poured every 7 to 10 days. Gardenia should be maintained in places with scattered light under the shade of the tree in summer. It is often watered and sprayed on the leaves in spring, summer and early autumn to increase humidity. In winter, it is advisable to put the sun, stop fertilization, and do not water too much. You can often use water close to the room temperature to water the branches and leaves, so as to keep the leaf surface clean, especially in rooms with heating in the north. Do not put the flowerpot on the front of the radiator or air conditioner to avoid dehydration of the leaves.

4. Pest control: scale insects, red spiders and soot should occur in Gardenia under high temperature and poor ventilation in summer. It can be sprayed with 40% dimethoate emulsion 1000 times to prevent scale insects, and 40% triamcinolone emulsion 1000 to 1500 times to prevent red spiders. At the same time, it can also reduce the occurrence of soot disease. For the sake of safety, families can spray washing powder solution, which also has a certain effect.

5. Basin changing: generally, the basin is turned once every 1 to 2 years, preferably in spring. In order to effectively prevent basin soil alkalization, the basin can be turned once a year. Before basin changing, the basin must be buckled. When the basin is slightly loose after it is dry, generally stop watering for about 10 days. When changing pots, cut off some roots, such as pest roots, multiply roots, and then plant.

6. Shaping and pruning: it is generally carried out in spring. Long bare branches, weak branches and other disordered branches affecting the plant shape are cut off to maintain the beautiful plant shape. Gardenia is planted on the top, and the top picking can be carried out appropriately in the growing season to promote the growth of flower branches and increase the number of flowers.

Gardenia jasminoides can be carried out in spring, summer and autumn, but the cutting survival rate is higher from March to April in spring. During cutting, 1-2-year-old branches shall be cut from the strong mother plant and cut into cuttings of about 20cm. Each section shall have more than 3 nodes. The lower leaves shall be cut off, and then the lower cut mouth shall be quickly soaked in 500ppm rooting powder solution for 15 seconds. After taking out the slightly dried solution, cuttings shall be carried out immediately grow tent complete kit. Before planting, the row spacing shall be 10cm on the trimmed seedbed × Draw a line and dot 7 cm, and punch a hole on the point with a small wooden stick, then insert 2 / 3 of the cuttings into the hole, compress with the surrounding soil, water and moisturize, and carry out weeding and topdressing management after survival. When the seedlings grow to about 50 cm, they can be planted out of the nursery.

Fertilization: Gardenia is not a very fertilizer loving flower, but because it grows vigorously and is limited by the nutrients of the basin soil, it needs to supplement fertilizer reasonably during the growth period. Apply rotten human manure or cake fertilizer every 10 days or so. Stop watering one day before fertilization, and water once at the same time on the day of fertilization. Fertilization will be stopped from mid September. For adult plants, sesame paste residue shall be applied once in mid June and mid August respectively, 0.5-1 Liang each time, and fully mixed with topsoil after crushing.

Watering: Gardenia likes big water. Some people call it "water Gardenia". In northern spring, due to windy, windy, dry air and scarce rainfall, water once every three days, and sprinkle water around potted flowers every morning and evening to improve air humidity. The weather is hot after summer. Water less in the morning and pour water after two o'clock in the afternoon. In summer, it is better to irrigate with soft water, because hard water contains more calcium and magnesium salts, which is very unfavorable to the growth of Gardenia. At least the branches and leaves turn yellow, at least they die soon. In order to overcome the alkalinity of soil and water quality, alum fertilizer water is poured once a week in the growing season to keep the branches and leaves green. Watering should be controlled in winter. If it is not dry, it is easy to cause rotten roots and death if the water content is too much for a long time.
