Email Marketing: How It's Done
Hello! If you have read the previous post, you will know that email marketing is a powerful tool that can be used to kick-start your online business. Here is a quick example of how your email marketing might fit together:Step 1 You set up a fantastic website for your product, which has a page that your customers can use to make purchases - an ecommerce page. You do whatever you can to advertise and promote your site. Step 2 A potential customer visits your site, which talks about the benefits of your product. It is very important that your sales copy emphasises the benefits of your product rather than the features - so instead of saying This TV has an extra-large screen, say The extra large screen will make pictures more absorbing, enhancing the excitement. Step 3 Having read all about how your product will improve their life, your customer decides they are interested. They may buy your product right away, but they are more likely to want to think about it for a while. Luckily, you have cleverly offered a newsletter or Free guide to [something] on your site, which will be sent to the customer if they give you their email address. ...
... They think this sounds good, so they fill in a short form on your website, which sends their details to your email account. Step 4 Your mailing list manager analyses the incoming email and adds the email address to your mailing list. Meanwhile, your autoresponder sends out the first issue of your newsletter, or the first part of your free guide. Whatever you send your potential customers, it must also be full of sneaky sales copy (as well as being interesting enough to hold their attention!) Step 5 Some of the customers who gave you their email address have read the stuff you sent them and returned to buy your products. The rest may have ignored their free newsletter or guide. Using the mailing lists your mailing list handler has made you can send out targeted emails to your customers. Step 6 You continue to promote your website and build your mailing lists, using your lists to promote other products that you are selling. By expanding the range of products you are offering (and maybe even setting up more web sites) you can create multiple revenue streams - which means that money is coming in from lots of different places. Step 7 You focus on promoting your websites, while your automated email marketing system pulls in more customers. ...and it's as simple as that! You may need to call upon experts to help you with some of the steps of this plan - for example, to set up a fantastic website - but once it is done it can become a powerful tool in marketing. Remember though: making money online is only possible by putting in the hard work. If you ever stop marketing your business, your business will deteriorate. In other words: yes, you can make money while you sleep - but if you sleep for too long, your customers will lose interest.
