No doubt, printer errors can be confusing. Each error code means a different thing, and if not taken care of, these errors can become fatal in the long run. Of course, printers are complicated machines, and sometimes, these errors can be overwhelming.

Today, we will be looking at some of the most common printer errors and how to fix them. With that being said, let’s see some of these error codes and the beautiful ways to troubleshoot them.

Canon Printer Error Code B203

The B203 is a common printer error, and it occurs on the majority of Canon printer models. The error typically indicates an issue with the printer firmware update or a damaged printhead. Whatever the case is, the error stops the normal functioning of the printer and prevents you from printing documents and images.

Additionally, there can be other issues with the printer that might be responsible for the error code B203, like outdated printer drivers or connectivity issues.

To fix the error code B203, you can take three different approaches. However, today, we will be looking at a simple solution for ...
... troubleshooting the error code B203.

To begin the troubleshooting procedure, follow the step-by-step instructions below.

Firstly, turn OFF the printer.

Make sure that your printer cartridges are not empty.

Pull out the ink cartridges from the printer and check if there is adequate ink in them.

If you use a Laserjet printer, hold the toner cartridges by both sides and shake them horizontally 15-20 times. This will distribute the remaining ink powder in the cartridge.

Now, insert one end of the power cable into the printer and another into a wall outlet.

Press the power button on the printer.

Move the printhead to the left of the printer.

You need to wait until the print head moves to the left-hand side of the printer cabinet.

Now, the printer will load the default settings and clear itself from the inside.

If it fails to clear itself, repeat the same set of steps.

Restart your printer and if you still see the B203 error code on the screen.

Canon Printer Error Code 5100

The 5100 error code indicates a hardware problem with the printer. Usually, you can get this error on Inkjet and Laserjet printers when there is a cartridge fault. An internal leaking, ink contamination band printhead, or carriage drive path are also significant causes of the error code 5100.

Usually, you can get this error when the printer parts are coming to the end of their service life and need replacement.

Like every machine, printers need regular service, and it is recommended to replace the expiring parts as soon as possible to avoid additional damage.

A simple fix to this problem is inspecting the printer and replacing the expiring printer component. However, if you use a new Canon printer and see the error code 5100 on the screen, there is no need to replace the part.

Simple removal and reinstallation of the printer component can fix the error code 5100 on your Canon printer. Try removing and re-installing the printer components to see which part is causing the error.

Canon Printer Error Code 5200

The error code 5200 is one of the common printer errors, and it has something to do with the ink cartridges. Usually, you can get this error due to the low level of ink in the printer cartridges.

Additionally, you can get this error when trying to install defective ink cartridges in the printer. Whatever the reason is, you can troubleshoot this error by following the steps given below.

The first step to fix the printer error code 5200 is performing a printer reset.

Turn OFF the printer.

Remove all the printer cables.

Wait for a few minutes before turning the printer ON.

If this doesn’t work, remove the ink cartridges from the printer and clean the cartridge area with a clean cloth.

Check the cartridges for signs of wear and tear.

Now, turn the printer OFF.

Press and hold the power button on the printer for 2 seconds. After that, press and hold the STOP/CANCEL button five times and then release it with the ON button.

The printer LCD will go blank. This means the printer has been rolled back to its default settings.

Now, the printer will notify the users about the new hardware. Ignore the message!

Turn the printer ON and OFF one more time to fix the 5200 error.

Try printing again. If you still see the error code 5200 on your Canon printer, contact technical support or visit your nearest printer repair shop.

Canon Printer Error Code 6000

The error code 6000 implies several issues with your Canon printer model. The most significant problems are no paper sheets in the paper tray, blockage of the feed tray by dust particles, or a broken paper mechanism in the printer.

Additionally, wrong paper sheets inserted in the paper feeder also cause the error code 6000 in most Canon printer models. Whatever the cause is, you can fix the Canon printer error code 6000 by following a few simple steps given below.

First, remove the printer from the power switch. Unplug the power cord and remove it from the printer’s rear end.

Keep it as it is for a few seconds.

Now, re-connect the printer to the wall outlet.

Turn ON the printer. On the printer control panel, press and hold the printer’s power button for a few seconds.

Press the “Stop” button twice.

Now, this time-releases the “Power” button very slowly.

After that, press the “Stop” button on the printer.

If this method doesn’t work for you, conceal all the print queues and clear the paper trays.

Additionally, put an adequate amount of paper in the paper tray and clean any paper feeder by removing dust particles, stuck paper, and labels.

Canon Printer Error Code 5B00

The 5B00 error code indicates an issue with the printer ink. Usually, you can get this error when the printer picks up ink spills inside the printer machine. You can also get this error when ink accumulates in the printer and clogs the printer ports.

The continuous use of the printer causes small ink spills inside the printer, and the ink gets into a big clog that blocks the printer from running at optimal performance.

If you see the error code 5B00 on the Canon printer screen, then the first thing you have to do is power off the printer and remove it entirely from any power source. After that, follow the steps given below.

Insert the power cable into the printer.

Press and hold the “Resume” button on the printer.

At the same time, press and hold the power button without releasing the “Resume” button.

Keep pressing the power button and release the “Resume” button.

While keeping the button pressed, tap on the “Resume” button two times.

After that, release the “Power” button.

Now, press the “Resume” button four times and then press the “Power” button.

Finally, turn off the printer and turn it back again.

This will fix the 5B00 error. If you see the error again, contact Canon technical support or visit your nearest Canon printer repair shop.
