People sometimes become careless about water when it comes to using household things through the tapes. You only use that water for various purposes that come to your house but are unaware of that water source. Now, water has its own speciality and functions like drinking, cleaning, bathing, and carrying out various daily activities.

This water comes to your house through the Municipal Water Treatment Plant. 2 types of Water Treatment Plant are available:

1. Drinking,
2. Wastewater treatment.

The purpose of both this type of water treatment plant is to clean up the water. But the basic difference in these 2 types of the Water Treatment Plant is that the output of the drinking Water Treatment Plant is the city’s pipe networking distribution system, whereas the output of the wastewater treatment plant is river or streams.

The process involved in this water treatment process

The water treatment process involves various processes to clean up the water. Different techniques are used to clean up the water. In one of these processes, ozone is added ...
... to the raw water, which is further followed by ultraviolet disinfection and chlorination.

Two-stage filtration systems are applied in which the suspended solid particle is coagulated using the ferric sulfate. These solid particles are now settled in a solid contact clarifier, along with in the gravity-fed.

The filtered water is now stored in a 10-million gallon on-site reservoir after treating this water through ultraviolet rays and followed by chlorination. These 2 processes help in disinfecting the water. From the storage reservoirs, this water is now supplied.

Membrane RO is also used, which works as a cross-flow filter. This helps in keeping the flow turbulent as a result the thickness of the solid on the filter is controlled, and the plugging of the filter is reduced.

The process involved in treating the wastewater

Worldwide, we see a very large quantity of water has been wasted daily, whether it is town urban or rural areas. This wastewater is also termed sewage. This wastewater contains a huge amount of organic matter, human excreta, and other forms of microorganisms.

According to the waste Water Treatment Specialist Disposal of this sewage water directly into the water bodies like rivers, the ocean may pollute them. This sewage water needs to be first treated in the sewage treatment plant before its disposal.

Wastewater treatment is a sewage treatment process that involves the 3 stages of treatment- Primary, secondary, and tertiary or advanced treatment.

Primary treatment- it’s a physical process in which the large floating debris is removed through the filtration and sedimentation process. Then it is preceded for the secondary treatment, which is a biological process.

Secondary treatment- the effluent is then passed into a large aeration tank which is constantly being agitated, and the air is pumped into it. As a result, there is a huge growth of aerobic microbes, which ultimately consumes the organic matter present in the effluent, and biological oxygen demand gets reduced.

Tertiary treatment- After secondary treatment is passed into a large settling tank. Here the bacterial floes settled down. This large amount of anaerobic bacteria is present, which feed upon the bacteria and fungi present in this activated sludge. Then the effluent is released into the water bodies like rivers and streams.
