Google’s App Just Revealed A Significant Pixel 6 Camera Improvement
Samsung and Google are collaborating for Smartwatch, which is an old update. But here, this new update tells that the collaboration is a successful one. The reason behind it is mainly the new GN1 camera sensor.
In addition to the official teaser for the Google Pixel 6, one of the remaining questions may have been addressed by Google more unintentionally.
In the latest Google Pixel Camera app update, Cstark27 on Twitter (via 9to5Google) spotted a reference to the upcoming Pixel 6 series. Furthermore, this reference comes adjacent to the word “gn1 wide,” which indicates that the primary camera on these phones may be equipped with a 50MP Samsung-made camera sensor.
We may deduce this since GN1 is the name of a camera sensor introduced by Samsung in February and has since gained widespread use. With a 50MP sensor and Samsung’s dual-pixel autofocus system, the ISOCELL GN1 (to give it its official name) should provide fast and accurate focusing.
4-in-1 pixel binning capability
This 4-in-1 “pixel-binning” capability allows the Pixel 6’s alleged camera to combine the data from groups of ...
... four pixels to create a single “super-pixel,” according to the rumors. This implies that if this camera is included in the Pixel 6, Google may choose to default to lower-quality pictures with 12.5MP resolution instead of higher-resolution images that capture more light in a scene, which is especially useful in low-light conditions.
Telephoto Sensor
This information aligns with previous rumors that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will both have 50MP main cameras. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are said to feature 12MP ultrawide cameras, with the Pixel 6 Pro adding a 48MP telephoto sensor.
Tensor Chipset and other specifications
Google’s previous release dates suggest the Pixel 6 will be available in late September or early October. Aside from the fact that it will be focused on artificial intelligence, Google hasn’t revealed much about the new Tensor processor that will power the Pixel 6 series.
The Pixel 6 series also has a revamped rear camera bar with new color options. The Pixel 6 Pro has Google’s first under-display fingerprint reader and a new 6.7-inch 120Hz QHD display.
This gadget has a 6.7-inch QHD+ 120Hz display. The Pixel 6 is anticipated to include a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display with a 90-fps refresh rate. The Pixel 6 Pro features curved edges compared to the Pixel 6. Google has also developed an AI and machine learning-based processor, which will be explored in the next series. This specific hardware is known as the Google Tensor chipset. However, the phone’s processor and other components have yet to be seen.
Expected price
Currently, no pricing information is available, but if the aim is to compete at the top of the market, the price will likely be $1,000 or more. The Pixel 5 starts at $699, while the Pixel 4a 5G starts at $499. Both smartphones may be launched in October in the US.
Samsung 50 MP GN1
Last year, Samsung released the 50MP GN1 sensor. In comparison to Samsung’s previous high-resolution sensors, its sensor measures 1/1.31-inch and has 1.2-micron pixels. Even if the resolution drops, the larger pixels offer greater low-light performance. Earlier this year, Samsung released a 50MP GN2 sensor. It has a bigger sensor and 1.4-micron pixels, like other Google Pixel phones. Instead, Google chose the older Samsung sensor for the Pixel 6 series. The answer will come when Google unveils its new phones.
