Do You Like Eating Coffee?
Five unexpected effects of coffee on our bodies.
There are many people who start the day with coffee. But is coffee good or bad for our body? This debate continues today. For example, yesterday's coffee was not good, but today's coffee is good for the body. So, we looked into five possible effects of coffee on our bodies, which has been revealed by research so far.
◇ Diet effect by reducing appetite-promoting ingredients
Studies have shown that coffee reduces endocannabinoids, similar to cannabinoids, an ingredient of hallucinating marijuana. Endocannabinoids are neurotransmitters, which also have some effect on reducing appetite. Therefore, he noted that coffee can lead to weight loss due to the decrease in endocannabinoids because the effects of marijuana that promote appetite are also reflected in endocannabinoids. In fact, many studies have been published that coffee is effective for diets.
◇ Ability to remove harmful oxygen equivalent to vitamin C
Some studies show that antioxidants from a cup of coffee are equivalent to 300 to 590 mg of vitamin C. The oxygen that makes energy in our ...
... body turns into free oxygen and damages cells. Antioxidants that remove free oxygen are needed, such as vitamin C, E, and polyphenol. However, the study found that a cup of coffee reacting to a reagent that acts as an active oxygen was equivalent to 590mg of vitamin C. Experts explained that the recommended daily dose of vitamin C is 100mg, which can effectively remove harmful oxygen from the body.
◇ Lower your risk of myocardiosis if you drink 1 cup
A cup of coffee reduces the risk of myosophagia. Hallym University Chuncheon Sungsim Hospital analyzed the correlation between coffee intake and myoflasticity among men aged 40 and older who participated in the 2009-2010 National Health and Nutrition Survey. As a result, people who drink one cup of coffee a day had a 30 percent lower risk of muscle reduction than those who drink less than one cup a day.
◇ If you drink it right after you wake up, you'll get a headache.
Drinking coffee after 1 to 2 hours of waking up to wake up can cause excessive arousal and cause headaches. When we wake up in the morning, our bodies release an awakening hormone called cortisol to boost our physical activity. However, caffeine in coffee works similar to cortisol, so taking caffeine in the morning when cortisol is high can cause side effects such as headaches and heartburn. Therefore, experts said that it is best to drink coffee from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., after 1 to 2 hours of wake-up, when the secretion of cortisol decreases, rather than drinking coffee right after waking up.
◇ Increase the risk of incontinence
Men who consume more than three cups of coffee a day have twice the risk of incontinence. In the case of women, the risk of developing incontinence or hypersensitivity bladder inflammation within four years was 19 percent higher than that of women who did not drink coffee well. Caffeine in coffee is known to increase the risk of incontinence.
Jo Bi-ryong, a professor at Seoul National University School of Medicine, said, "Coffee is a complex of 1,000 chemicals, different substances, different reactions depending on the roasting and brewing process, including caffeine, chlorogenic acid of antioxidants, and caffeine that drops blood sugar."
According to Professor Cho's explanation, the caffeine in coffee is mostly reabsorbed by the kidneys, so the awakening effect does not occur immediately but lasts for two to five hours. There are more factors in metabolizing these caffeine than I thought. The lower the age, the longer the metabolic reaction lasts, the shorter it affects women by 20 to 30 percent, and in pregnant women, caffeine is not only delivered to the fetus but also causes double the metabolic effect. Differences in CYP1A2 metabolites, which are detoxifying in the liver, have also been found to affect the level of caffeine metabolism.
As a result, there are differences in health effects such as cardiovascular disease and kidney disease depending on the amount or frequency of intake. Professor Cho explains that various reactions of chemicals such as environmental and body influencing factors and various types of adenosine receptors cause various health effects.
For example, an observational study found that drinking coffee increased the incidence of acute leukemia, lung cancer, and miscarriage in children, while it showed beneficial effects in liver disease, gout, and adult leukemia. Decaffeinated coffee also has a positive effect on diseases such as diabetes, endometrial cancer and lung cancer.
In particular, the higher the intake of coffee, the more effective it is in reducing metabolism and blood sugar. However, in diseases such as diabetes, cirrhosis and kidney stones, the correlation graph with coffee intake shows U-shaped results, indicating that unconditional high intake does not lower the risk of development.
However, the incidence of breast cancer did not differ significantly depending on the amount of coffee consumed; rather, the incidence of laryngeal cancer increased as tea and coffee consumed increased. It also has negative effects such as pregnancy, quality of life, depression and withdrawal symptoms.
Some studies have shown that drinking coffee also helps the mental health of the consumer. The higher the intake of coffee, the higher the quality of life, and the lower the incidence for people who drink more than four cups of coffee in depression. It also had a significant effect on cognitive functions.
"Coffee has a positive effect on the physical and mental health of the consumer, but it is not always good to drink a lot because it draws a U-curve in most cases," Professor Cho said. "In addition, caffeine in coffee can lead to addiction and withdrawal symptoms such as headache, fatigue and dizziness." "There is a risk that withdrawal can occur even at low capacities, and the symptoms can continue for up to 9 days because it occurs within 12 to 24 hours after cutting off."
"According to studies so far, coffee seems to have a positive effect on cognitive functions, antioxidants, reduced mortality, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, liver disease and some cancers, but it also has negative effects such as laryngeal cancer, miscarriage, dependence and withdrawal," he said. Drinking 400mg of caffeine or less than three cups of coffee a day is generally safe.
