Even though many factories and export businesses are now slowly opening up in India, production is starting at reduced capacity. It is a stark reality that the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdowns are still there. Meanwhile, the long-term effects of the lockdowns have taken a serious toll on more than 31,000 substitute and temporary Jute Mill workers. The immense and grappling financial hardships of so many people need immediate action and new implementations of economic diversification.

How Jute Bags Exporters Would Make The Change

As of July 2021 - the Office of the Jute Commissioner has ordered for maximum supply of B-twill Jute Bags to the State Governments and FCI for the procurement and supply of Agro Goods, as directed by the National Food Safety Mission. Last year, the total order of Jute Bags placed by the different Indian States was 28.88 lakh bales - that valued a domestic economy of Rs. 8303 Crores.

Earthyy Bags, one of the leading jute bags manufacturers and exporters, have been setting benchmarks with their tireless efforts to sustain the livelihoods ...
... of their wage workers by providing as much compensation as possible. But the economic impact has affected tens of factories and it is a bigger problem that needs bigger reforms.

A wide range of evaluations has been carried out by the Office of the Jute Commissioner of India for the Ministry of Textiles - including Level of Modernisation, Installed Capacity and unique issues and concerns that can improve the supply chain.

Policies for Workforce Welfare

This is high time for the Indian Government to revive the Jute Industry for the survival of workers and also to leverage the economic potential of the industry. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) have been issued by the State Governments in order to help organisations endorse the “new normal” operations less hazardously.

Small Businesses can be supported with Wage Subsidy Benefits, and additional Income Support can be provided to keep the contract workers calm during the crisis.

Projects like Jute-ICARE (Jute-Improved Cultivation and Advanced Retting Exercise) have been initiated to improve product qualities through the distribution of HyV certified Jute Seeds and increasing farmer income by 1,200/- to Rs. 1,400/- per hectare.

Jute Shopping Bag Manufacturers Create For Growth Opportunities for Indian Exports Industry

Policies like “bring your own bag” and the overall promotion of Jute and Jute Products like shopping bags have steered a wind of change and opened up more revenue channels in the market.
Local businesses and organisations across the world are endorsing eco-friendly packaging. Sustainable Fashion has gained an industry niche all by itself. There is a whole new potential for Home Decor and Utility goods that can be manufactured in a Jute Bags Factory.

From fashion bags, shopping bags to products like files, folders, desk organisers, planters, jute baskets, wallets, placemats, even luxury fashion items like jewellery, footwear and even furniture upholstery can join in the brigade!

So it is not a one-dimensional supply chain anymore. With the ease of customs and constant efforts by the Indian Government to revive its exports network and relations, jute bag manufacturers can reach out to several industries across the world. There are golden business opportunities for Small Startups and Business extensions for organisations looking for other sources of income with low investment and high markup.

Conclusion

Time is still uncertain. India still battles the COVID-19 pandemic with growing anomalies, shortage of jabs, an economic dip, and political chaos. But thanks to the organisations that care for their people, there is still much scope for growth and improvement within the homeland and on international grounds. By endorsing technological and digital innovations, targeting niche markets and diversifying product ranges, businesses can self-sufficiently gain more power and sustainability and support the livelihoods of their workers.
