A lot of new changes were introduced to the iPhone with iOS 14.5 updates. Unfortunately, it seems that the recent app update is doing more harm than good.

Recently, Apple introduced a significant update for its Podcasts with iOS 14.5. Unfortunately, some incidents suggest that it has done more harm to the app than doing any good. Many users began complaining about the latest state of struggling podcast app of Apple just a few after the rolling out of the new software update.

With iOS 14.5, Apple introduces many new features to the iPhone, with the redesigned Podcast app was one of these updates. The introduction of the subscription plans for the Podcast app was the most significant new update. It enables the content creators to charge a fee every month for specific episodes or entire shows of the existing podcast.

Apart from these, the latest iOS software update also introduces an entirely redesigned Search bar, the ability to save any individual episodes of the podcast to listen offline, and the revamped show pages with thrilling and much-improved visuals. While all these are the positive improvements ...
... that came with the iOS update for Apple Podcasts, the latest update also seems to bring a few bug issues.

MacRumors and many users on Reddit have indicated towards bug issue plaguing Apple Podcasts. They have said that the bugs found in the previous versions of podcasts are ruining it, even after the latest iOS 14.5 updates. Moreover, the users are complaining about syncing issues which is the most prevalent one. Some users said that syncing playback across Apple devices is still troublesome and malfunctioning.

The major attraction of the Apple Podcast is that the users can begin listening to their favorite content on one Apple device and then continue enjoying it on another. However, the feature has been plagued by bugs and highly troublesome for years. A user has pointed it out on Twitter, saying that whatever is the tech giant is doing to sync podcasts across all its devices has been for years and not giving enough results.

Apple Podcasts: Downloading Hours of Unwanted Episodes

Apart from the prevalent issues associated with podcast syncing across Apple devices, users have also reported numerous brand new bugs that were not present before the latest iOS 14.5 updates. It has been reported that the Apple Podcasts are downloading every single episode that is marked as unplayed in the people’s library.

At first glance, it may not seem to be a big deal, but some users have said that it was downloading podcasts that have the worth for a month. It leads to storage and data issues. Reddit said it ends up using 80 percent of his monthly while Podcasts downloaded the episodes from August 2020.

If this is happening with you, then go with these simple steps to check it. First of all, click on your Apple Podcasts app, then click on the Library option visible on the bottom side. After then, click on Downloading.

Here, if you find tons of unwanted podcasts being downloaded, then click on ‘Cancel All Downloads.’ This section will need to go through the downloaded podcasts and delete them manually that you don’t want any more on your device.

Click on the three dots appearing next to each episode, and then click on ‘Remove Download.’ However, it can’t be taken as an elegant solution, but this is all about available right now. There are also some other issues with the latest update. For example, several reports have indicated that the Library page is taking minutes or hours to load after the installation of iOS 14.5.

It has changed the episode order of a show resetting the Limit downloads feature. This act of the following shows and content has uprooted the users the way they had expected from the library page to work. It is not clear when the tech giant will address these issues, so in the meantime, the users should use a third-party app to get the podcasts related issues fixed.
