Jayesh Saini: About Sputnik Vaccine & Its Use In Kenya
About Sputnik V:
Sputnik V happens to be the first approved vaccine in Russia. It has been entirely developed and manufactured in the country. The base of this vaccine is adenoviral. It is a two-part vaccine developed to fight the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
Talking about the operational style of this vaccine, it makes use of a weakened virus for introducing small portions of the pathogen and thus trigger an immune response inside the human body. The Sputnik V vaccine is known to be effective in reducing the time required for immunity development against SARS-CoV-2, the very virus that is the cause of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the month of May last year, a Russian institute by the name “Gamaleya National Research Centre” of Epidemiology and Microbiology had stated that it has come up with a vaccine that doesn’t have any side effects. The vaccine puts to use 2 different vectors for the two vaccination jabs. While the first dose of this vaccine results into achieving humoral cellular immunity, a second dose of vaccination facilitates the formation of memory cells.
How effective is the Sputnik V ...
... COVID-19 vaccine?
According to both the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and the Gamaleya National Research Centre of Epidemiology and Microbiology, the vaccine has shown an efficacy of 97.6%. Our source Jayesh Saini in Kenya, has also reported the same fact.
The number stated above has surfaced after carrying out data analysis of the data specific to the disease infection rate amongst the individuals who have took both the shots of the vaccine.
As per Jayesh Saini Clinix, data obtained from as many as 3.8 million Russians who happened to receive both the Sputnik V components within the duration 5th December 2020 to 31st March 2021 under the mass-scale civil drive for inoculation showed a 0.027% infection rate beginning from the 35th day after taking the first dose.
Going further, the occurrence of disease amongst those adults who weren’t vaccinated happened to be 1.1% starting from the 35th day post the initiation of the mass vaccination program in Russia.
Here’s what the director of the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology Mr. Alexander Gintsburg had to say - “The actual efficacy of the Sputnik V vaccine may be even higher than the results of our analysis demonstrate since the data on the case registration system allows a time lag between the collection of the sample (the actual date of the disease) and the diagnosis.
“Sputnik V has once again confirmed its high effectiveness in the prevention of coronavirus infection.”
If one is to believe what Jayesh Saini, Nairobi, Kenya has to say, around 94% of the reported side effects were said to be extremely mild i.e. grade1. Also, the four deaths that occurred during this duration also did not have any connection with the vaccine in any way.
After going through all this information, one can conclude that from the face of it, the Sputnik vaccine looks a good option to go for. As per recent reports, even India has given the clearance for its emergency use. Then, why not Sputnik in Kenya? This is the question that surfaces. We will be throwing light on this, in the following section.
Use of Sputnik in Kenya denied?
It is a known fact that India had exported a limited amount of free vaccine (AstraZeneca) with the initiative of WHO, so that vaccines are made available to third world countries like Kenya.
Well, talking about the current scenario in a country like Kenya, an information source in Jayesh Saini News has expressed that the earlier lot of the primary AstraZeneca vaccine is out of stock. Meanwhile, the government in power over there, had earlier given approval for the use of Russia’s Sputnik as an emergency vaccine. In fact, it had also given the green signal to a private firm for importing the said vaccine for emergency use.
However, going by the current scenario, the same government has imposed a ban as far as the use of Sputnik vaccine is concerned!
According to Jayesh Saini, Nairobi - Kenya, the reason behind this is said to be nothing but the involvement of health care lobbies who are competitors to the firm who was permitted to import Sputnik. They happen to be setting up a false propaganda against the firm. On the other hand, financial interests of entities like small-time bloggers etc. has also contributed towards making the situation worse.
Result? The firm who had imported the Sputnik vaccine are in the process of re-exporting it. The loss is not of the firm, but that of Kenyans. The government should understand this, before it is too late.
Jayesh Saini who is following the situation is of the opinion that in this fight, it is the citizens of Kenya who are suffering the worst. They are being deprived of a proven vaccine like Sputnik. Lives are being lost. The situation needs to change, and quickly.
