Just avoid creating more than a single air space in any assembly and insulate that single air space with the right amount of insulation. If you create extra air spaces by installing strong clips over the current drywall or building sound absorbing blankets in front of a current wall, then you can lessen resonance problems by insulating this newly designed air space.
