Every year, hundreds of monitors are released, and testing them all is virtually impossible. The vast majority of the items on this list have been checked by us and hence have gone through our benchmarking process. But don't worry, our findings database contains over 60 screens, 30 of which were tested.
1440p, 4K, ultrawides, and 1080p are the four main types of gaming displays. We've split down each of these categories further into best-in-class models, best value, and so on. If you're thinking of updating your GPU, these are some of the best monitors that will let you fully use all of the graphics power while still saving some space for potential upgrades.
1440p high refresh screens, which are still the most common segment for new monitor sales, have steadily decreased in price over the past few years, to the point that you can now buy some pretty decent monitors for reasonable prices, while output at the high end has opened up.
We looked at a lot of different monitors to find the right 1440p gaming display, and we finally decided on this one.
Samsung Odyssey G7 32" Curved

... different monitors before deciding on the Samsung Odyssey G7 as the best overall 1440p gaming display. This isn't the ideal gaming monitor, but 1440p 240Hz monitors are still uncommon outside of TN screens, and the Odyssey G7's overall excellent success earns it this spot for the time being.
In a wide range of fields, theOdyssey G7 excels. The response times for a VA display are elite and unexpectedly impressive. Our study showed that 3ms match TNs from 240Hz to 60Hz and better than other IPS monitors were consistent grey to grey experience. With a so fast refreshing pace and a resolution that goes beyond 1080 p it's perfect for both today and the future.
The G7 is also amazing for colour exactness, a good wide range of colours and a high contrast that is almost twice the number of IPS equivalents. A semi-HDR mode is present which increases the normal HDR mode a little. And the staining of the dark degree is not necessary to be concerned. We very much like the Odyssey in two formats – 27-inch and 32-inch – which enables buyers to choose from their design.
In the G7 the aggressive 1000R curving and bad uniformity are the main drawbacks. Samsung has apparently tried to patch the scamming problem plaguing early adopters with a software upgrade which is positive news for G7 customers. Had the problem not been solved, we would not have been prepared to suggest this show.
The Odyssey G7 is a flagship product with a premium price label at 700 $ for the 27-inch model, or 800 $ for the 32-inch model. You may also consider a high-end 4K monitor at this level. However, we believe that the price tag is justified with what is on the market today as the finest 1440p display.

MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD 27"

The high-end 1440p @ 144Hz display industry has many fantastic choices for approximately $500. Two major choices are available: an LG Nano IPS-based monitor – and several of these options exist – or opt for a newer fast IPS display by means of an AU Optronics screen. Both can be difficult to distinguish, especially given the price.
We believe that the MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD is the safest way to proceed now. With the latest Quantum Dot technology screen we have tested this show and it is very exciting. In certain cases, the LG 27GL850 we suggested is at least equal to Nano IPS in the past, and it is stronger in terms of main efficiency metrics.
The MAG274QRF-QD delivers a very good ~4ms reaction time experience, up to 165Hz. But contrasting to displays mounted on LGNano IPS screens, contrast is more than 20% higher to have a greater blackness and improved visual quality in dark environments. The colours of DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB are the most complementary to these by a very wide range of colours we saw from a consumer gaming display. This makes the MAG274QRF-QD a powerful dual display for the development of games and content.
It is in the top end of the market at 550 dollars. Therefore, we would suggest Dell S2721DGF if you wanted to achieve more budget-conscious efficiency that delivers 90 percent of the Msi model. It uses a 4MS reaction time experience with a Nano IPS panel at 165Hz. It has some downsides like the contrast ratio, but Dell also sells this display for up to $400. At the same speed, the best Nano IPS monitor that we have tried is hard to get past and it is the best 1440p monitor.

Viewsonic VX2758-2KP-MHD 27"

planned budget buyers shouldn't look beyond the Viewsonic VX2758-2KP-MHD after a 1440p 144Hz encounter. After previous upgrades, Viewsonic's valuation is outstanding and cheaper only after the last check-in was made.
The VX2758 is very rare and not available too much, so you have to be warm on the buzzer to get it, but we don't think you're going to find something at $300 that will blow the better. Naturally, the VX2758 is slower than we preferred the other high-end 1440p displays. Peak output could be in the ballpark, but this display has a 7m grey to grey experience on average, and this is excellent for a mid-range panel.
The real selling point here is the 144Hz refresh rate and IPS monitor, which means you're still having a good high refresh rate with adaptive sync, as well as better colour performance and excellent viewing angles. It has a well-calibrated panel right out of the packaging, which is unusual. The key disadvantages are a lack of height adjustability for the stand (ergonomics are very basic), as well as general efficiency reductions. However, at $300, this is such a good deal that we continue to recommend it.
You can also keep an eye out for the Pixio PX277 Prime, which is identical to the Viewsonic but has a higher 165Hz refresh rate as well as a height adjustable stand at the cost of broad gamut support. It's a marginally higher quality show, but it's still a little more expensive at $330, and it's not as easily available. The Gigabyte M27Q has piqued our curiosity in this section as well, but we have yet to try it.

Best 4K Gaming Monitor
LG UltraGear 27GN950 27"

In our view, if you're looking for a 4K gaming display, your choices are very small. Since the display industry is still iterating on high-refresh rate designs and addressing some of the early adopter issues, 2021 could be a great time to get into 4K gaming on a monitor. However, if you do want to dive headfirst into this premium resolution, there are a few choices to explore.
The LG 27GN950 is the best 4K gaming monitor on the market right now, and the only 4K gaming display we actually endorse. This is a high-end show that performs admirably in most fields. LG's Nano IPS technology achieves average reaction times of about 4ms and maintains this at lower refresh rates with minimal overshoot. This is especially important on a 4K display, where you cannot often achieve the frame rates needed for a 144Hz refresh.
The 27GN950 does not have the same relatively poor contrast ratio as the Nano IPS 1440p monitors we've checked, but while we aren't getting VA-like deep blacks (no VA provides 4K 144Hz with good results right now), this is the best on the market. Since this is an IPS screen, we get all the advantages of color replication, such as a nice big color gamut of 95 percent P3 coverage, excellent viewing angles, and decent uniformity. Content developers can enjoy what this show will do in terms of color, making it a display that is ideally tailored to dual use in addition to gameplay.
TLG also addresses one of the major problems with early 4K fast refresh displays by using DisplayPort with Display Stream Compression. This enables you to use the monitor's 144Hz refresh rate at 4K without chroma subsampling over a single DisplayPort cable.
There are a few flaws that prevent the 27GN950 from being the ideal 4K gaming display: there is no HDMI 2.1, meaning console players are unable to access fast refresh speeds. There are also a few issues with the colour calibration modes and resources provided by LG, but these can be resolved with software and firmware upgrades.
