How To Keep Google Account Secure

If you know what security settings your Google account is missing to be protected, then it will be pretty easy for you to understand how you can keep your account safe. As cyber-attacks are continuously increasing, Google has improved its security to avoid several issues like account theft, accessing data and many more. Indeed, when Google becomes reliable, it appears impossible to try out other services.
Google allows you to keep your data in its cloud storage, its voice assistant can record your commands and give you the best suggestions. But along with all these benefits, it is necessary to keep your account safe too. Majority of the time, Google alerts you when someone tries to log in to your account on some unknown device, but this doesn’t always work out. You have to keep your account security tight by following the right and important ways. First, check your security level in the Google Security tab.
Log in to your Google account using your email address and password.
Visit the https://myaccount.google.com/security page.
Tap on the Password.
Type a strong password using alphabets, numerical ...
... and symbols.
Press the Change Password box.
Now the password of your account will be changed successfully.
Well, if you have multiple Google accounts, then you’ll have to follow the same method to change the password. However, this isn’t the only way to change password, you can make your account secure in a few more ways.
Enable Two-Factor Authentication
Once you have successfully changed the password of your Google account, you should enable the two-factor authentication. It is considered as one of the best ways to secure any online account, and Google allows its users to enable it to keep the account secure.
Visit the https://myaccount.google.com/security page.
Press the 2-step verification option.
If you don’t see a blue checkmark on it, then it means you haven’t enabled it yet, so you should proceed further. But if the blue tick is right there, then you don’t need to proceed further.
To enable 2-step verification, you’ll have to type your contact number to get verification via text message or voice call.
Choose an option, and press Add Phone.
Now a dialogue tab will appear that’ll say, Let’s set up your phone.
Enter your contact number in the blank field.
Select whether you wish to receive the verification code through text message or call.
Press Done.
Now check your device that has the registered number.
Remember the verification code and type it under the code section.
Press Next.
Now on the final page, Google will confirm the account set up is finished. Press Done.
The two-factor authentication is really an account saver feature. Once you enable this feature, you’ll receive a verification code on your registered number to log in to your Google account. Without entering the verification code, it will be difficult for anyone to access your Google account.
Configure a Recovery Email Address
Setting up two-factor authentication will keep 70% of your account protection, but to take it to maximum, you should configure a recovery email for your account. It will help you to recover your account if you forget the password of your account. The recovery email is considered a backup to save your account if nothing is helping you out. You can mention the email of your friend, a family member, a neighbour or even your second email account. Once you forget the password, the recovery email will receive the verification code that you’ll have to use to recover your lost account.
Visit the https://myaccount.google.com/security page.
Press Recovery Email.
Mention a recovery email address in the Update Recovery Email section.
Press Save.
Follow these steps to keep your account secure.
Conclusion
By following all these steps, your account will be moved toward a secure form. It will be easy for any stranger to access your account if they don’t have a verification code and permission to do it. If somehow anyone manages to access your account, you’ll receive an email on your registered email, and there you can tap That wasn’t you.
