A Glance At Some Effective Home Remedies For Joint Pain Relief
Before we get into the various remedies for joint pain relief, it is important to understand why it may have occurred in the first place. Joint pain occurs when there is discomfort in the bones in the joint, which may or may not be caused by inflammation. While most joint pains are age-related, some may have an obvious cause, such as an injury. However, there are also times when further investigations might be required for a concrete diagnosis.
The most common type of joint pain is arthritis, which refers to a set of conditions that cause inflammation in the joints, leading to pain. While medical intervention may be crucial to treat join pains, there are some home remedies that may be quite helpful in joint pain relief.
Yoga
Some forms of yoga, such as Iyengar yoga, have been known to contribute towards joint pain relief. This type of yoga focuses on anatomical alignment of the body, using props to achieve it, thereby relieving joint pain caused by inflammation and tension alike.

Sometimes, joint pains are caused by increased pressure on them to support excessive body weight. In such cases, reducing the weight put on the joints can help relieve pain. According to studies by the Arthritis Foundation, roughly every half a kilo of weight on the hips adds to 3 times the weight on the knees and 6 times the pressure on the hip joints. Hence, losing weight can help in easing the pressure put on these joints, thus reducing the pain.
Heat and cold therapy
Heat and cold treatments are effective ways for relieving joint pain that arises from inflammation. While some people tend to alternate between the two therapies to relive pain, it is important to also monitor the effect of this on the skin. While heat therapy helps increase blood circulation in the vessels, thereby soothing sore muscles and stiff joints, cold therapy restricts the blood circulation, which helps reduce swelling.
Most common modes of heat therapy include heating pads, a warm shower or hot water bottle for topical application on aching joints. Cold therapy involves submerging the joint in a bucket of ice, wrapping ice on a towel and placing it over the joint or cold gel packs.
Alternatively, one can try using over-the-counter cold gel for muscle pain. However, sometimes even the best anti inflammatory gel may not prove as effective as one may have hoped, in which case medical intervention must be sought as early as possible.
