Introduction

With the continuous increase in the use of bicycles, bicycle racks are also in high demand. Bike racks or bicycle parking racks are mechanical devices in which bicycles can be attached securely for parking purposes. A bike rack can be securely attached to the ground or any stationary object, or it may be free-standing.

For commercial areas, outdoor bike racks are used, and for private bicycle parking, indoor bike racks are often used. Many bicycle experts claim those bicycle racks like Double Tier Bike Racks that secure the bicycle's frame and wheels using bicycle lock are effective and secure bike racks.

Bike Racks Explained

Early models of bike racks were for securing one wheel. In those models, one wheel generally front wheels are grooved on a piece of concrete on the ground, which contains a forked piece of metal in which the front wheel of the bike is pushed. These types of bike racks were not effective as the thief can easily detach the wheel to free the rest of the bicycle. They do not provide much support, and all the ...
... cycles arranged in a row seem to topple on each other like a domino effect.

Next, the Sheffield rack or Sheffield stands after a Sheffield city in which this rack is pioneered. It contains a metal bar or tube bent in the shape of a square arch. The top part is parallel to the bicycle frame, allowing the frame to be secured.

Features of Two Tier Bike Racks

Then, post and ring bicycle racks are used in the city of Toronto, which consists of steel bollards or post topped by a cast-aluminum ring. In Amsterdam, Two Tier Bike Racks are ubiquitous in which bikes are parked in a smaller area as the handlebars, which are used to broader than the back of the bicycle of every bike, are at a different height.

These two tier bike racks are made up of steel, and they contain a large bar to which the frame can easily be locked. Many Dutch bicycles have a rear-wheel lock, and wheels need not be locked because of this.

Classes of Bike racks-

2 types of bike racks are available, as bike parking varies from one environment to another.

1. Class1- These are called long-term bike parking stands, and only specific types of locations require this type of class 1 standards. Class 1 type parking regulations are implemented in places where bicycles need to be parked for long hours. Examples of this type were parking in elementary schools, office buildings, libraries, etc. During the installation of class 1 bike racks, weather protection for the bikes and racks should be kept in mind.

2. Class 2- This seems to be found in public areas and this type of bikers leave their bike for less than 2 hours. In this weather, the phenomenon is considered as much. They are implemented near the restaurants, picnic areas, parks, etc. Here, Vertical Bike Racks are more preferred during class2 bike parking.
