There are two lakes on Mount Kailash. Mansarovar lake was originally built in the thoughts of the Hindu God and then conceived on Earth. This sacred lake is a freshwater lake, whereas, Rakesh Tal Lake, which is separated by only one path, is a saltwater lake known as Bhoot Lake. One is like the sun, and the other is like the moon. The two lakes represent light and darkness respectively.
When we say that Mount Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva, it does not mean that Lord Shiva was seen in the Himalayas or they were hidden in the mountains, but they stored the storehouse of knowledge in a specific form of energy.
Similarly, Buddhists state that their three main bodysatva: the Guanin Bodhisattva, the Vajrasattva Bodhisattva, and the Manjushri Bodhisattva all reside in Mount Kailash, while the Jains say that their first ancestor Rishabhanatha also lives there. This does not mean that they actually live there, but that they store knowledge and truth.
When the sun sets, the Kailash Mountain cast a shadow which makes a religious symbol called Swastika. The symbol is considered one of the auspicious sign among all the Hindus. The parvat mystery is still unsolved and this attracts people toward it. For example, a shape of OM on mountain, and snow falling on peaks of parvat.
It is believed that lord Shiva is omnipresent and people living nearby it can hear the echo and feel the stillness. There are also many mysterious things which is still unknown to people.
