Winter Illnesses And Their Most Common Symptoms
But it doesn’t come without its downfalls as well. With the dipping temperatures come a slew of common winter illnesses that can put a damper on your mood if you’re not careful. Cold, flu and khansi are some of the most common winter illnesses and they are usually treated at home. Let’s delve into these common ailments, their symptoms and their treatments.
1. Common cold
A common cold is as common as its name. It’s a respiratory infection caused by a virus and can be contagious in nature, especially during the first week. Its symptoms include a runny nose, sneezing, khansi or cough, nasal congestion, itchy eyes and throat, headache, and sometimes a mild fever. It can be treated at home with the help of home treatments like warm soup, teas and lots of rest. OTC medicines usually help curb the symptoms of the common cold. For example, if your coughing is interrupting your daily activities then it can be taken care of with the help of cough suppressants or khasi ki dawai. I can take up to 7 days for someone to recover from the common cold.
2. Flu
Often mistaken for the common cold, the flu ...
... is once again, a respiratory viral infection that shares many of its symptoms with the common cold. Its symptoms develop more rapidly and are more severe in nature than that of the common cold and it takes anywhere from seven days to two weeks for you to fully get recover. The most common symptoms include body ache, headache, sore throat, cough and high fever. You can get vaccinated annually for the flu in order to reduce your chances of contracting this virus. While most cases are treatable at home, rare cases can also lead to complications and prove to be life-threatening. You should visit the doctor if your symptoms persist for a longer period.
3. Bronchitis
Bronchitis is a type of respiratory infection that is often caused by a virus called RSV. It occurs when the bronchial tubes that carry air to our lungs get inflamed and swollen, making it difficult to breathe. The common symptoms include mild fever, wheezing, dehydration, difficulty breathing and coughing. The symptoms can be subdued by taking medicines for particular symptoms like nasal sprays for congested nose or khansi ki dawa for persisting coughing.
