There are few spots in the world as sacred as Badrinath. Ever since times immemorial, the town has enjoyed a highly revered status. The reason behind the sanctity attached goes back to an old legend which says that this was the spot where the Badri Van was located where Lord Vishnu spent some time on earth.

The Chandrapaduka boulder is a must visit for devotees for it is believed to hold the footprints of Lord Vishnu. The source of River Alaknanada is a major draw for the adventurous. Its flows out from a lake called Satopanth which is located at a height of more than four thousand meters.
