Finding A Good Interior Designer
If you are starting a new interior design project for your home or business and you have decided to get a professional designer in to help, then there are probably a few points to consider when making your choice. After all there are thousands of designers in your area. So, we have prepared this short guide to help you refine your choices, and hopefully pick the best designer that suits your particular project:
1. Price – In todays economic climate, many of us are trying to make savings wherever we can, and so often price is one of the most important factors when choosing someone to assist with a project. Many designers can work from plans and photos to give a rough idea of what a project might cost. This will help in the respect that you can speak to more designers remotely, and therefore gives you a wider pool to choose from.
2. Expertise – When you are browsing through different designers and companies, you will generally find that they have a particular area where that they specialize in. If possible, you will want to choose someone that really focuses on the same style as your own project. Whether that ...
... is a particular style or a particular room, i.e. some designers focus more on kitchens and bathrooms.
3. Role of the Designer – When you choose an interior designer to assist with a project, its worth noting that a designer can take on many different roles. For example, some designers will offer a fully managed design service, whereas others will offer a design only service. Therefore, to ensure that you are comparing apples with apples so to speak, it is worth clarifying what they will do as a part of their role.
4. Reviews – One of the handy things about the online world, and social media, is that you can find so much feedback online about different companies. This can be very useful when researching a company to help you with a project. Whether its google reviews, newer review companies such as Trustpilot or social media such as Facebook, there’s literally lots of information on companies if you know where to look that can provide invaluable.
5. Accreditations – Another thing to look for is whether your designer or company is a member of any accredited organisations in interior design. This generally can be a good sign, and worth bearing in mind.
6. Guarantee and Contracts – Will the designer offer a guarantee on the work? A company that is sure they can deliver what they claim they can, should be more than happy to provide a written guarantee.
We hope that the above guide will be of use when hiring your professional interior designer for your upcoming project. Some of the points raised will not be applicable to smaller projects, but in our experience, it is always best to do too much preparation on a project than not enough.
