On-Access Scanning is the fundamental function of McAfee Antivirus software. It is one of the primary protection methods exhibited by Antivirus software to safeguard your device against malware and other threats. Whenever you install a new program or insert an external device on your system, McAfee scans the files and restricts the entry of those who turn out to be harmful in any form. Scanning grants authorization only if it finds that the program or app doesn’t pose any risk to your device.

The scanning feature of McAfee makes sure that all the incoming and outgoing files are malware-free. It sends you an instant warning if any of the files or programs tries to modify your system configuration. But the downside is that On-Access Scanning might restrict the installation of any new software on your device if it finds it suspicious. This might also block the internet connection during the installation process. That is why if you want to disable the scanning feature for a while, then follow the guidelines given below:

Find the icon of ”McAfee VirusScan”on the System Tray of your device.
Right-click ...
... on the icon.
You will get the option ”Disable On-Access Scan.” Click on it to disable the On-Access Scanning.
If no such option appears, directly go to the ”Activating On-Access Scanning” part.
How to Activate On-Access Scanning?

Once you install the new software on your device and decide to activate the On-Access Scanning on your device, the following steps will be your perfect guide.

Go to the ”Start” menu and click the ”All Programs” option from the list.
A list of options will appear. Find the ”McAfee” from there.
Next, select the ”VirusScan Console.”
Now, tap twice on the ”Access Protection.”
An option ”Prevent McAfee Services from being stopped” will appear with a check box next. Tick the box and proceed.
Further, you must add the ”Disable On-Access Scanning” option on the McAfee VirusScan list.
Finally, select the ”Apply” and move ahead.
In the end, tap on the ”File” option and then on the ”Exit” to shut the McAfee VirusScan Console.
On-Access Scanning is the first line of defense against the incoming digital threats and existing malware on your system. So, disable the scan only if the requirement is urgent and necessary.
