Are you thinking of installing solar PV kits? If yes, then you should understand how these systems work actually. There are specific materials available exhibiting a property known as photoelectric, which occurs at the atomic level. This is the same principle the solar PV systems use as the solar photons get absorbed by a semiconductor material that releases negatively charged electrons.

With a negative and positive layer, the electrons present in the negative layer release and flow towards the positive layer. When solar energy increases, the energy flow increases that results in stronger current. However, the photocell semiconductor layers consist of silica wafers oppositely changed by coating them with a specific material.

The front part of the cell comprises a negatively charged layer and has phosphorous coating whereas the positive layer has boron coating. When the solar energy strikes the negative layer, it frees up the electrons that are absorbed by the positive layer.

There’s a metal coating present between the layers which can direct the flow of electrons into wires. When you put a load between ...
... these layers, you will be able to create current and DC power.

The solar PV kits come with so many features. Here are some of the best features discussed below:

PV Cells and Modules –

Every PV cell is well-known as a cell. When all cells are combined together, they form a PV module. Currently, most modules comprise of 60 cells and the popular ones used today have larger 72 cells. In fact, a 60 cell produces 220-280 watts of power depending on the manufacturing and a 72 cell module produces 280-340 watts.

Solar Inverter –

The primary DC energy comes from the cell in the PV system. But DC energy is not commonly used in households. DC appliances and lights can be available and can be used directly by a solar PV system. But you can commonly find them in AC appliances.

Generally, there are DC appliances and lights available in automobiles and camper trailers. But we need AC for daily living like vacuums, washing machines, computers, TV, etc. The solar inverter comes with a solar PV kit and is used to convert the DC power to AC.

Currently, inverters are highly popular systems available in the market and most new cars come with a DC to AC inverter which is capable of plugging 120 volt appliances.

Storage –

A solar PV system uses three different ways for the storage of solar energy. They are DC batteries, hot water tanks and the On Grid or Net Metering that loans it to others to be given back when required. Out of three storage methods, Net Metering is one of the most popular ways to store solar energy.

On Grid or Net Metering –

Net Metering doesn’t utilize batteries and however a DC inverter is used to convert the electricity to the AC. Your home can use this energy; but if there’s surplus, the energy flows outside the house to the power grid.
All of the currently available electric meters used in homes flow both ways and will record a negative consumption when energy flows out of the house to the grid. This new net metering means the overall cost of a solar PV kit is significantly minimized as no storage is needed. Currently, all 52 states in the USA and the provinces in Canada are providing net metering options to consumers and businesses.

Bottom Line –

Are you considering installing a solar PV kit at home or business premises? If yes, then you should look for a reliable solar installer and let them handle the installation with speed and confidence.
