Maruti Suzuki Car Market In India

Maruti Suzuki is regarded as the king of the Indian automotive industry. It is India's largest car maker and has been continually seeing success since decades. Earlier, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) had the name Maruti Udyog Limited (MUL), a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan.
The company was born in 1981. The actual production of the first Maruti Suzuki car, however, started in 1983 with the M800. The company's joint venture with Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan helped it grow. Maruti Udyog Limited was introduced to take care of Indians' personal mode of transport. Earlier, the public transport system in India was not as good as it is today.
The Indian car market witnessed a great change with the introduction of Maruti Suzuki cars. It was the success of these cars that paved way for other car brands to enter India. India sure has a great potential for cars and Maruti Suzuki is considered the leader in exploring the potential.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki has an extensive inventory carrying cars for every sector of the Indian society. From low-cost small cars to opulent sedans and magnificent ...
... SUV, Maruti Suzuki has it all. The company has the ability to deliver power and performance in a compact, lightweight engine that is clean and fuel-efficient which is what most of the Indian customers want.
As mentioned earlier, the success of Maruti Suzuki in the Indian market started with the M800. The car has been sold in millions and the low cost and fuel efficiency have been making it even more popular. Every year JD Power's annual customer satisfaction survey has Maruti as the winner. The M800 has been phased out of 13 Indian cities now owing to the new BS IV norms. However, the car maker has been managing well with other models like the Alto which is its highest selling car as of now. Over 50 per cent cars sold in India carry the Maruti badge.
As of now, Maruti sells 13 models in India. They are the A-Star, Maruti 800, Alto, Omni, Gypsy, Zen Estilo, new WagonR, Versa, SX4, Swift, Swift Dzire, Eeco and Grand Vitara. A few more are on the cards. The new cars are expected to make their way into the Indian car market with attractive features that are sure going to drive the crowd in India crazy.
Research shows that Maruti Suzuki has built and sold around 8 million cars in India. This indeed is a great figure. The company that was born just to offer cars for the middle class Indian society has expanded its network worldwide. The car maker exports over 30,000 cars a year and has an extremely large domestic market. Over 500,000 cars are sold just within India. Today, Maruti has traveled a long and successful way on the Indian roads and still continues its journey in the country as well as globally. There's one thing for sure: the thirst for owning Maruti Suzuki cars in India is never going to get quenched.
