Nolan’s Scifi Movie Tenet Will Release In Los Angeles
Tenet is one of the most expensive of Nolan’s movies, shot in seven different countries. The filmmaker took five years to prepare the film’s script and conceived the idea over a decade ago. The project was one of the special projects for the director. Tenet was released on 3 September 2020 in the United States after being delayed three times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film collected over a gross of $357 million worldwide, which did not breakeven the high production cost of $500 million. However, it received positive reviews from critics for production and visuals.
The action thriller film stars Robert Pattinson, John David Washington, Dimple Kapadia, Elizabeth Debicki, Kenneth Branagh, and Michael Caine. The movie’s plot follows a CIA agent (played by Washington) who participates in an overcover opera house. He is captured by mercenaries, where he endures torture and then is forced to consume a cyanide pill. However, that was his loyalty test towards the organization.
According to a new article from Variety, the movie will be released in Los Angeles. Tenet will also release in Drive-in theatres ...
... at the Hollywood Theater Legion from 5th to 16th December. The movie team is also planning for a physical release and video on demand on 15 December this year. The distributing partner of the film Warner Bros. is trying to release the high budget project in New York and Los Angeles. However, the L.A. release plan is confirmed, but there are no words from the team regarding the NY theatres.
The project Tenet has to face many obstacles other than the pandemic. It was released when most of the theatres were closed, which excluded the main target audiences of Los Angeles and New York. The two largest cinema markets’ lockdown in the United States caused a massive loss to the Tenet team.
Filmmaker Christopher Nolan resisted the movie from releasing as a video on demand. He knew that the laptop and mobile phones’ small screen could not do justice to the movie’s great cinematic experience. Nolan is very connected to the project. He has shot all the complicated sequences without using a green screen. The award-winning filmmaker even brought an actual plane to film the crash scene so that the audience will have authentic experiences. The conventional director is forced to adapt to the changing film industry’s new norms with the rest of Hollywood.
