Woody Harrelson’s role is epic in the movie “2012.” Any development of resilient infrastructure in the film initiates after the investigation in the Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone National Park has a history of devastating earthquakes. But, one of them created the most significant dent on humanity. The historian Larry Morris talked about the most severe earthquake that hit the Yellowstone National Park. Larry Morris’ book “The 1959 Yellowstone Earthquake Disaster” recalled the catastrophe.

About Yellowstone National Park
Considered to be the first national park in the USA and worldwide, Yellowstone National Park got established in 1872. It lies in the northwestern corner of Wyoming and extends into Montana and Idaho. The park is famous for its wildlife and subalpine (Montane forests) biome and ecosystem. Animals like grizzly bears, wolves, bison, elk, and others live here. The majority of the world’s geothermal geysers are in the Yellowstone National Park. It received the UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 1978. Yellowstone National Park has one of the world’s most extensive petrified forests.

The ...
... 1959 Earthquake
The Yellowstone National Earthquake faced carnage in 1959. The 1959 Yellowstone Earthquake is also known as Hebegen Lake Earthquake. Measured 7.5 on the Richter scale, the earthquake took 28 lives and created a loss of worth 12 million USD. The historian displayed that it was more than a roar and claimed it somewhere like the doomsday. There was a massive landslide that occurred due to the earthquake. New geysers and cracks erupted and sprouted as aftermath. The quake created a blockade for the flow of the Madison River. So, it gave rise to many fresh lakes. Areas around Hebgen Lake got affected as the quake caused parts of the lake to rise eight feet. Due to this, people of the towns like Ennis had left the place. It is because there was a significant concern about the flooding in the city. In the areas of Hawaii and Puerto Rico, many observed the water-level fluctuations in the nearby place.

How’s the place today?
One can still witness the effects of the 1959 earthquake to date. Yellowstone National Park has preserved many of the incidents with it. The tourists can relive those moments by visiting the Lake Earthquake Visitor Center, which is 27 miles away from Yellowstone’s northwest. This place started its operation in 1967. It provides the view of the mountain that fell and resulted in the formation of the river. Activities like scheduled movies and talks let visitors understand the 1959 Hebgen Lake Earthquake story in the observatory.

Conclusion
Larry Morris has tried to generate awareness about the most rampant earthquake in the history of America. The book covers the real stories of that time, along with the escape model devised. Even places like the Lake Earthquake Visitor Center somewhere try to impart information about the incident.
