Nowadays, everything from a smartphone to a smart home has an automated smart assistant. Cars also have a car-friendly mode these days, allowing drivers and passengers to control the car’s infotainment system via mere voice commands. There are two major auto modes available for cars these days, Android Auto and Alexa Auto. Both of them share several same features, but there are many uncommon features too. Android Auto is a lot easier to set up and use while comparing with Alexa Auto.

Though Alexa Auto might provide a little better features and user experience, Android Auto works perfectly as well.

In this guide, we are going to show you the significant differences between these car-friendly auto modes. We will try to explain which one is better, affordable, efficient, and worth buying.

So what are you waiting for? Let’s get started.

Alexa Auto and Android Auto

Alexa Auto is a car optimized version of the Alexa smart assistant application connected to the Echo auto. This smart auto mode allows you to control your smartphone using your voice. It also enables you to control your car’s ...
... stereo and infotainment system.

On the other hand, Android Auto is a car-friendly auto mode for Android phones, and it is available on the Play Store. The newer Android phones don’t require any new app installation from Google Play Store. These smart-systems allow users to control their mobile devices while driving a vehicle, using voice commands. That way, drivers can easily interact with their smartphones during a drive. With these auto modes, you can easily send text messages, make and receive calls, and do other things while driving without using your physical movements. It helps you stay focused on the road and traffic even if you want to use your mobile device. This is the main purpose of these voice-enabled vehicle auto modes.

Android Auto

It can work on any mobile device that has Android 5.0 or later. If your mobile device has an Android 10 or later, you don’t need to install any additional app from Play Store to use Android Auto. This auto mode doesn’t require any hard and fast installation process. You don’t need any additional equipment to use this service. It can easily work with your car’s infotainment system as it supports a wide range of car smart stereo systems. To set it up, you only need to tweak your Android device. You don’t need any head unit integration to start using it.

Alexa Auto

Your Android phone needs to have at least Android 6.0 to use Alexa auto. You can’t use it if you have an older Android version.

For iPhone users, their phones have to be at least iOS 11 or later. If you are running iOS 10 or older, you will first need to upgrade to at least iOS 11 to use Alexa Auto. You cannot access this service without using the Alexa app on your iPhone. It is far better when it comes to features, ease of access, user experience, and other things. Alexa Auto does require an additional device called Echo Auto to work in your car. Therefore it requires you to spend a little money to get it working.

You need the Echo auto gadget no matter what kind of infotainment system you got in your vehicle. You can connect it to your car’s stereo system via Bluetooth or aux. If you don’t have Echo auto, you cannot have the Alexa Auto smart drive mode on your vehicle.

As you can see, Android Auto is a lot easier to use and is also affordable when compared with Alex Auto. You don’t need a separate gadget if you want to use Android Auto. All you need is your Android phone and your car to use Android Auto.

Which of these Auto Modes did you like? We suggest you go for Android Auto as it is a lot easier to use when comparing it with other technologies. Not only that, but Alexa Auto will also require more time, money, and effort to work. If you like Alexa over Google Assistant, then you should opt for it instead of Android Auto. Both these auto modes are compatible with iOS.

That’s all for today, and we hope you liked it.
