Nevada Beach is situated on the National Forest land. Nevada Beach comprises two separate but related parts. – Day Use Area and Campground. The day use area prominently features one of the widest and longest public beaches on Lake Tahoe, while the campground is home to 51 sites. Lake Tahoe is a short walk to Nevada Beach, and can be seen from most campsites.
Nevada Beach Day Use Area
The Nevada Beach Day Use Area is in fact huge expanse sand offering shady picnic spots lined with tables all along till the shore of Lake Tahoe. The picnic pavilions here are to be reserved in advance, and may sometimes be unavailable on some days. A great place for picnic, the shallow waters at Lake Tahoe shoreline also make it a perfect play area for families and their kids as well. When arriving here for a picnic, make sure that you carry along with beach umbrellas or any other types of shade. Also, don’t bring your pets as they aren’t allowed anywhere on the beach or in the picnic area. Facilities at the day use area also include drinking water and flush toilets.
Nevada Beach Campground
The Nevada Beach campground is a mostly flat surface in a grove of tall pine trees. There are 51 campsites here, with Lake Tahoe visible from most of them. The campsites are a good place offering a tranquil atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of tourist activity at Stateline/South Lake Tahoe. A popular destination for families, the campground abounds in activities such as fishing, boating, swimming, sunbathing, hiking, or just plain relaxing. This amazing family fun spot is also only a short drive from the urban confines of Sparks and Reno.
You need to plan in advance for staying at the extremely popular Nevada Beach campground. Of the 51 campsites, 47 are available for advance reservation and can be booked throughout the summer season. Reservation can be made at the Recreation.gov online reservation system after checking its availability.
The recreation opportunities and facilities at the Nevada Beach campground includes nearby ranger station, food storage boxes, drinking water, flush toilet bathrooms, boating and fishing access, picnic tables at each site, campfire rings and firewood for sale, beach and lake access, and onsite campground host.
You will have to pay a nightly camping fee between $30 and $36 at the Nevada Beach campground. A 50% discount on camping fees is however provided to the holders of disability, senior citizen and regular annual passes.
Other Attractions nearby Nevada Beach
Nevada Beach is absolutely a perfect base for various types of events and activities all around Lake Tahoe. The restaurants, casinos and nightclubs at Stateline / South Lake Tahoe are only three miles away from here. You can also consider booking a scenic lake tour aboard the MS Dixie II paddlewheel at the nearby Zephyr Cove. You will find other Lake Tahoe water sports adventures too. The Marlette-Hobart backcountry, a part of Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park, is worth checking out for hiking with a view.
