How To Follow Important Self-caring Tips During Covid Times?
Happiness is a state of mind! We all can have a simple and peaceful living by keeping ourselves engaged in meaningful acts as well as thoughts.
Everyone wants to be independent and lead a life free from any worries and to make this possible for specially-abled NDIS continues to introduce different reforms. But with unprecedented COVID times, things have become slightly difficult.
For instance- When we have loved ones who are specially abled then social distance at times can be tough. Whatever may be the situation, there are numerous ways we can implement to stay connected, happy, and independent.
Here we bring to you a few important tips which you should follow during these trying times for yourself as well as your loved ones who might need help-
Continue to stay in touch with doctors.
During COVID times, you might be avoiding visiting your doctor in person. As most of the doctors are available on Call for any concerns, therefore be in regular touch with them and get help when you need it.
Be open and discuss your thoughts with loved ones around
These ...
... are the trying times for everyone and if you are mentally or emotionally feeling anxious then you should keep sharing your thoughts and feelings with your loved ones. They may be in a position to help you feel better.
If you feel slightly uncomfortable then get in touch immediately
If you are a home carer for your loved one and you notice discomfort in their behavior then you should immediately get in touch with their doctors.
The change in their behavior can be in the form of any frustration, feeling lonely, sleeping more, mood fluctuations, anxiousness.
Spend some quality time
Instead of sitting all day home confined to a single room. Move a little bit outside and give yourself some breathing space.
Getting out in nature and spending some quality time will help you reduce anxiety, stress, and depression.
Continue your therapy sessions
If you are following on any of your therapies then make sure you continue with them instead of putting them on hold.
Keep up with your therapy sessions and continue to achieve your goals. Health care providers like psychologists, occupational, and speech therapists are these days available on the phone to offer online support and stability.
Engage yourself in a new and fun hobby
If you want to try any new activity then you it is the right time to do. Explore more and utilize the pandemic period.
There are plenty of creative activities you can involve yourself in for example- painting, baking, gardening, and a lot more.
Participate in group recreational activities
If during a pandemic you are unable to step out then you can participate in group activities where sessions can be conducted online.
Keep stock of your aids which you may require urgently
Considering your health concerns or for your loved ones, make sure you have sufficient supplies of medicines and equipment available with you. If you have mobility equipment then ensure they are serviced properly and do not require any maintenance.
It will help you a lot during an emergency.
Make yourself comfortable with technology
During COVID times, most of the tasks for example- accessing grocery or availing any support is being done online.
So make sure you know how to make use of technology during these times because if you don't have anyone nearby to provide you the required support then you may find it hard.
God forbid if you are feeling any of the COVID symptoms then keep a record of the important numbers where you can contact during an emergency.
Generate a constructive routine
You may feel out of place and control during these times. So developing a routine can help you feel engaged, grounded, and happy.
Eat healthily and be happy
Following a healthy diet will help you fuel your body and will provide it with the necessary nutrients. Eat plenty of vegetables of different types and colors, citrus fruits, and dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese. And keep drinking water regularly!
Have your groceries delivered online. It is important to note that the NDIS participants receive priority home delivery. You can discuss it with your support staff or the carer.
Keep yourself positive and practice meditation
Be positive, these times shall pass too. Research has also found that practicing meditations and deep breathing exercises can help you in general as well as during these COVID times.
It will also help you keep stress, anxiety at bay.
If you have not planned anything so far about how you will manage during this pandemic, then you can also discuss and take help from your manager or the support worker for inputs. They may be able to help you.
NDIS service providers in Australia
Australia has numerous NDIS service providers offering support and care for the specially abled. If you have registered yourself with any one of them then you can discuss your plan and have it managed accordingly.
But if you are still looking for support then you can get in touch with Star Community Care. One of my close friends has accessed their services and they are completely reliable in every respect.
They offer care for disabled services in NSW Australia and their 24x7 support is instrumental for the participants where they can have the services accessed without worrying for a single moment.
They have an effective and well trained team to help the participant. Even during the COVID times, they are working tirelessly to support the participants with their every single requirement. As an NDIS provider in NSW, they are highly regarded to keep their commitments with the clients.
I would recommend you to check with them for their services and learn how you or your loved one can access the support during these tough times.
The times are tough but so are you. So make sure you make the most of this time and keep yourself happily engaged with the activities you like. They will not only keep you motivated but will also keep you positive and happy.
