Indian Alcoholic Beverage Industry Overview
The alcoholic beverage industry in India currently holds the 3rd place globally, with China and Russia in the first and second places, respectively. The demand for such beverages in India is growing at a rapid pace, propelled by a population of 130 crore. One of the main reasons behind the high demand is the large population of young Indians.
In general, alcohol is mostly consumed by people aged between 18 and 40 years. 50% of the Indian population is aged below 25 years while 65% is under 35 years of age. In terms of market share, country liquor emerged as the highest alcoholic beverage in demand. The consumption market has been taken up mostly by the spirits.
