No matter how long you are living in a noisy neighborhood, you can never get used to the noise. We all want our peace of mind whenever we come back home from the long day of college or mostly from work.
The screams of children, blaring music from the nearby frat house it is all too much to handle.
For this massive problem, the best you can do is soundproof your room. It may sound expensive, but it is not. There are several cheap ways that you can use to reduce the sound and can get your calmness back. To help you out below, I have jotted down the five easy steps to reduce the noise in your sizeable room.
1. Resilient bars:
The first step is installing resilient bars. A resilient bar is a popular and useful method to reduce noise. They help soundproof your room and are very easy to install. A resilient bar is a thin metal channel used to install on your roof and all the walls. Installing a resilient bar for ceiling and walls work effectively and eliminate the direct contact of other apartment walls ...
... from your room. It helps you create a gap between the room ceiling and the walls.
2. Draft guard or door seals:
To properly secure the room from any disturbing sounds, one method is not enough. That is why the next thing you need to do is have draft guards or door seals. The crack that is under your door also invites unwanted sound to enter in your room. The best way is to install a draft guard under the space of your door. This way is an ideal and inexpensive method to add insulation to your room. It is also helpful to block out the cold and hot air entering your room.
3. Sound reduction curtains:
You may not be aware of them, but sound reduction curtains are used widely in urban areas where the traffic noise is 24/7. These soundproofing curtains kill two birds with one stone because they also look attractive and are highly functional. They also add a soothing decorating touch with soundproofing your room. Windows are an ideal way to have the curtains, but you can also hand them on your door.
4. Rearrange your décor:
It may come as a surprise but rearranging your décor also helps in noise reduction. All you need to do is put your décor against the walls to prevent the sound. Push your book shelve, table, chairs, couch against the noisiest walls, and you are good to go.
5. Soundproof foam:
There is also much information related to the foam that you can use to soundproof your room. The foam can absorb the sound and make your room quiet and peaceful. The immense advantages of these foams are that they are cheap and easy to install.

All the above ways are easy, cheap, and useful, plus you can DIY with little to no help from the expert.
