The route has been used by the locals for thousands of years as the only road to trade in and out of the villages of the Valley. From salt and pepper to books and electronics, everything is transported using yaks and mules through this Trek.
The Buddhist and Hindu communities of the Valley have their signature style, traditions and cultural beliefs that are interesting to observe. From beautiful monasteries to stunning and ancient temples, the Trek has it all. Numerous Gompas, Dangkhor and the old Hindu temple complex of Muktinath make this trail a harmonious blend of multiple religions and ethnic groups.
