DBX (Database eXtension) is the main data file in Microsoft Outlook Express. Outlook Express creates a separate DBX file for every folder, like Inbox.dbx for Inbox folder. All of the DBX files are stored in and managed by a hidden folder, called Store Folder. It is stored in the Documents and Settings directory of your Windows hard drive. Under some circumstances, the Outlook Express DBX file may get damaged and you may not be able to access stored data from it. In such serious situations, you are required to opt for Outlook Express Recovery solutions to get your mission critical data back.

The DBX file corruption may take place due to numerous reasons, such as missing system files, application malfunction, virus infection, improper system shutdown, and more. In case of DBX file corruption, Outlook Express can not read the file and extract data from it. In such cases, you may come across various error messages, similar to the following ones:

Msimn caused an exception C0000006h in module Directdb.dll

Directdb.dll is one among the most significant modules ...
... of Microsoft Outlook Express application. Outlook Express may fail to access or load any of your data files when you come across this error message.

Cause

The problem may occur due to missing system file - Directdb.dll. It can also be caused by damaged DBX file.

Solution

The fix of this problem and DBX Recovery resolution depends upon importance of your data, which is stored in DBX files:

1)If your data is not that much important, you can simple rename damaged files. When MS Outlook Express is restarted, a new set of files is created automatically. To do so, you need to first locate the DBX files using Find-> Files or Folder option. After locating damaged DBX files, you can right-click the file and select 'Rename' option.
2)In order to get your valuable data retrieved from the damaged DBX files, you need to Recover Outlook Express data using the most recent backup.
3)
In case backup is either not available or it is not updated, third-party applications are required to extract inaccessible data from the damaged DBX files. The DBX Recovery Tools are particularly designed to methodically scan entire DBX file and extract all data from it.

Stellar Phoenix Outlook Express Recovery is the most efficient utility that safely and easily recovers corrupted DBX files in all cases of corruption.
