What X-men Movie Would Look Like If Disney Didn’t Buy Fox
We cannot imagine the future of the X-Men franchise if Disney had never acquired the rights from Fox. The Disney-Fox deal has played a vital role in the betterment of X-Men’s future. In the year 2019, Disney acquired the rights of Fox’s movies, TV shows, characters, and properties for a price of USD 71 billion. By this acquisition, Disney has the new ownership for the X-Men and Fantastic Four movies, which are the most popular projects so far. Due to the Fox-Disney deal, Disney now has rights for both Marvel’s Merry Mutants and Marvel’s Avengers together like Iron Man. Thor, Doctor Strange, etc.
After the deal was completed, there were still two unreleased films left with Fox in the X-Men franchise, Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants. Disney released these films instead of Fox because of the deal that happened between Fox and Disney. Dark Phoenix was released in the year 2019 and was not a successful film of the X-Men Franchise. Later, The New Mutant was released in August 2020 and was a great success confirming the audiences about the final installment of the X-Men franchise.
The fans of the X-Men movies ...
... will now see their favorite superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the next time. It might be possible that you will see Wolverine, Cyclops, Beast, and more in the same MCU world along with the Avengers, Spider-Man, and the Guardians of The Galaxy. But, what would have happened if Disney did not buy Fox? Let us consider some scenarios if the Disney-Fox deal had never happened.
Dark Phoenix Could Be Released As Two Movies
The Fox-Disney deal has impacted the results of the film, Dark Phoenix. If this deal was never made, then, the movie would have received much stronger efforts from the Fox that could have resulted differently. The minus point of this film at the box office was to give an idea about the end of these characters. It was clear that the future of most of the old characters has now shifted to Disney from Fox. The name of some of those characters is Professor X, Magneto, Storm, and more.
According to the information, Fox planned to release Dark Phoenix as a two-part film. Fox may have stuck with its same plan that could have impacted the result of the movie in some different manner. If the Dark Phoenix was released as two films, more characters could have brought into the limelight, it could have included better villainous characters, and more such things responsible for the better result of the film, Dark Phoenix.
The New X-Men Trilogy Would Be Completed
When the film Dark Phoenix was under development, the film was supposed to be the first film in the third trilogy of X-Men movies. However, it was just a discussion not a fixed plan, but Disney made a deal with Fox and Dark Phoenix which was planned to release as the two-part film had to release as a single story. If this had happened, the results could have been better. In those days, another series of movies with James McAvoy as Professor X and his team of mutants would have also completed. In this way, it would have given the proper conclusion to many characters and the X-Men trilogy would be completed.
New Mutants Reshoots Could’ve Made The Film Good
Fox had plans for several reshoots and delays about the recently released film The New Mutants. When Fox sold its rights to Disney, then, all the reschedules and delays were abandoned for The New Mutants. The director of the film, Josh Boone, has said that these reshoots would have happened if this deal never took place and The New Mutant would have been a more entertaining film.
X-Men Future Is Better Off With Disney
However, Fox sold its rights to Disney, and with the result, many of the movies were scrapped, but, it does not mean that it has impacted negatively. According to the history of Marvel Cinematic Universe depicting the stories of the Avengers and the Guardian of the Galaxy, the audience has enough confidence in the introduction of the X-Men’s Merry Mutants in the MCU.
After picking the points regarding the X-Men movie future, we have concluded that the X-Men franchise is going to have a bright and prosperous future in the coming days. It will be an entirely new world to see Wolverine, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, The Thing, and many more characters under the same roof of the MCU. The fans are also excited to see all of their superheroes performing together.
