Every smart user is well aware of using the Home app to control their smart appliances. These advanced technology programs have made life simple and quick. You’re just a smartphone away to perform activities from across your house.

Creating automation is also a part of the app and a step towards getting smarter. For instance, you can set a time for your mood lights to turn on, and it’ll work automatically. Well, this might sound confusing right now, but it’s a very simple setup. Read along to understand more.

The location automation in the Home app uses GPS for setting up. This automation isn’t restricted to the Home app on your iPhone. However, these settings can be acquired by others who have access to your home. Not only this, but you can also set automation selecting a different location.

HomeKit also comes handy with sensor-based automation such as motion sensors, contact sensors, etc. You’ll be surprised to note that even alarm clocks can work with sensors and alert you if the windows are open.

Unluckily, temperature-based sensors are not accessible with the Home app. However, it’s not impossible if you opt to use third-party apps.

The steps to set sensor automation in the Home app on your iPhone and iPad are:

Go to the ‘Home’ app.
Select the ‘Automation’ tab.
Click on the ‘Add’ button on the top.
Select ‘A Sensor Detects Something’ option.
Select the accessories that will be starting the automation.
Hit the ‘Done’ button.

Click ‘Next.’

Once done, press the ‘X’ button.
