Cement Industry In India: An Overview
Cement finds its application in several construction projects, it has long replaced the previous materials used in construction including lime-mortar and lime. Unlike in cold countries where wood is used in residential construction, almost all residential construction happens with cement in India. From residential buildings to civil engineering projects, cement is used in almost all types of projects.
How The Indian Cement Industry Fares In The World?
In terms of cement manufacturing in the world, India happens to be in the second position after China. In 2019, it is estimated that China produced around 2.2 billion metric tons of cement which is over half of world production. India produces around 8% of the global installed capacity. The cement industry plays a major role in socio-economic and industrial development. India ranks fifth in terms of revenue contribution, with over INR 500 billion in a year in the form of levies and taxes to the government.
By 2025, it is expected that the cement industry in India will witness a demand of around 550 to 600 million tonnes a year. The reason is, several sectors ...
... like housing, industrial construction and commercial construction are expanding. Besides, infrastructure is developing rapidly in India, which ensures that the demand for cement would be high in the coming years. In the coming years, 98 smart cities are likely to come up in the country.
You should be knowing, that the cement industry is primarily energy-intensive and it depends largely on natural resources. In order to produce cement, natural resources like minerals, coal and limestone are used. In order to optimize quality and costs, the industry would need a continuous supply of all these raw materials.
Cement Industry Scenario In The Indian Market
At the end of 2018, India’s capacity for cement production was around 460 million metric tons. While in this year, consumption of cement was around 270 million metric tons. It is estimated that the production capacity will reach around 540 million metric tonnes by 2021. Presently, the consumption of cement per capita is 210 Kg in India. Among the developing countries, this is the lowest, while the global average is 580 Kg. Around 98% of the production capacity lies with the private sector, while the public sector has 2% of the capacity.
Why Are Industrial Process Fans Used?
During the production of cement, the industrial process fans are used at several stages. These include preheating, handling of materials, cooling, etc. Centrifugal fans are also used in the production process of cement, particularly while developing the pre decomposition kiln and pre-heater.
The process of producing cement starts with the extraction of raw materials in the quarry. This involves the crushing of minerals in the mills, using electric motors. In this way, the clinker is obtained from the kiln. The temperature of this kiln is very high, and this is where industrial process fans are used.
Application Of Centrifugal Fans In Manufacturing Cement
The application of industrial fans is involved throughout the production process of cement. These fans primarily have two functions to perform. Firstly, they supply fresh air and remove exhaust fumes. Secondly, they are used in material handling.
• During the production process blowers are used, so that they can move the ore just after they are extracted.
• When the raw meal is produced by crushing raw materials, these are taken to the kiln. At this stage, industrial fans are used to super-heat this meal in the clinker.
• Next, fans are used to decrease the temperature of the clinker.
• During grinding, the product is moved into the mill with the help of the fan.
• Thereafter, the cooling fans are used to cool the material down.
• You must also be knowing of induced draft fans. The induced draft fans deployed for the purpose ensure that the required amount of air is available for combusting the kiln fuel.
• In the next step, to these clinkers gypsum is added and moved to the cement mill where it is grounded to create cement.
• Apart from this, blowers and high-pressure fans are used in treating chemicals, additives and raw materials.
Industrial fans are used in several stages while manufacturing cement. The manufacturing plants generally procure these fans from trusted suppliers to ensure they are to supply the demand within the required time-frames.
Reitz India manufacturer of PA fans has gained a trusted name in the fan industry for their exclusive production standards and merchandise quality. Reitz India primary air fans supply significant static pressure air which is ideal for balancing the pressure drops in the boiler applications of various power plant industries.
