How To Fix When The Windows 10 Stops Working After Update
Windows 10, once updated, can also occur with issues like not being able to log in to your device. The welcome screen either keeps on loading, or it appears as a blank screen. What to do when issues like these restrict you from logging in to your system even if the password is entered correctly? Below is the guide answering your questions and the ways to fix it.
There are four methods that can help you fix the login issue after updating Windows 10.
Use Advanced Startup Options or Boot to Safe mode
When the auto-login feature doesn’t work after you update your Windows 10, you can disable the feature with the help of ‘Advanced Startup Options’ or ‘Boot to Safe mode.’ The steps to change the auto-login settings are:
Go to the ‘Settings’ app on your system.
Select the ‘Accounts’ tab from the list.
Click on the ‘Sign-in options’ from the toolbar present on the left side of the screen.
Turn the slider off for ‘Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device’ and ‘Reopen my apps after an update or restart.’
Now, put your PC on ...
... update and restart.
Uninstall the recent Windows update
If it’s the update that is causing issues while logging in to your device, you can uninstall the same, and the steps are:
Boot into Safe mode.
Go to the ‘Settings’ app on your PC.
Click on the ‘Update and Security’ tab.
Locate the ‘View Update History’ option and click on the same.
Tap on the ‘Uninstall Updates’ option in the next window.
Select the update and then uninstall.
Restart your computer to start it fresh.
Hide the updates that cause problems
You can choose to view or hide tools related to the updates. Hiding the updates do not just hide the update information, but it also restricts them from reinstalling.
Use media creation tool
You can use the ‘Media Creation tool’ to repair the Windows 10 update. The steps to do the same are:
Install and launch ‘Windows ISO.’
Create a DVD drive or a bootable USB.
Boot from the media section and click on the ‘Repair your computer’ option.
Tap on the ‘Startup Repair’ below the ‘Advanced Troubleshooting’ section.
Following any of the four methods above shall resolve the issue with the system.
Note: Following all these methods do not remove or delete any data from your system.
