The body comprises many elements which are necessary for the normal functioning of the Body. One of the very important elements among all these is Zinc. All the elements inside the body work in conjugation for overall equilibrium. The periodic table consists of 17 rare metals. The rareness of these metals not only depends upon its availability and quantity on our planet but also on how difficult is it to extract out these metals from its ore as all the process comes at the cost of Investment and Manpower.
Why Zinc Is So Important Element For Our Body
What makes Zinc really special is the number of functions it controls in the body and its rare availability. Zinc is basically a mineral. It is not available in abundance in nature so normally it’s deficient in average humans in today’s life. So Zinc deficiency is a very common problem. Sometimes the diet is not deficient in zinc but its bio-availability matters a lot. Its requirement increase more in compared to Adult in Children, Lactating mothers and Pregnancy also. The Zinc in early phases of life has a significant role in the overall growth of the Body. It affects ...
... the growth of each and every system inside our body like skeletal, gastrointestinal , Nervous system, etc. Diagnoses Of Zinc Deficiency The diagnosis of Zinc deficiency inside the body is not very easy at Clinical levels. So Blood test is advised to see the exact Plasma (Blood) and serum concentrations. Though few clinical symptoms like loose motions, Decrease in libido, etc can be seen but those symptoms don’t differentiate the subject on the basis of proper Diagnoses. Combating Zinc deficiency –There are few ways to deal with Zinc deficiency e.g -Dietary Modification – So we need to search out Zinc related food sources for that. The sources are Primarily Meat, Fish, seeds , Diary, Nuts, etc. -Supplementation – So here there are lots of Zinc tablets and syrups are available exclusively. -Fortification and biofortification – This is a technique which increases micronutrient levels in certain crop and also increases its bioavailability to humans. Zincs physiological and biochemical functions in Body Metabolism Excretion – This process leads to the removal of all waste products from the body. Almost half of the zinc in the body is lost in the form of excretion. Zinc is also released in biliary and intestinal secretions and later most of the zinc released is again absorbed back in the system. Intestinal Zinc can be measured from the fecal excretion only. On Average 14 to 30 mg zinc is intake on a daily basis by humans. The other sources of zinc excretion are urine and surface losses.Hemostasis – This maintains equilibrium between independent elements. So the constant amount of human zinc is essential for survival. The balance has to be set up between zinc absorption and intestinal excretion. The levels of zinc intake change the zinc excretion levels proportionally.Absorption – This process refers to nutritional intake from food sources inside the stomach and intestine. The rate of absorption of zinc reflects the bioavailability of the food source. The final amount of absorbed zinc is what we get in our actual system. You can also read Tips For Diabetes Control
