Smart homes are the future now. There are a thousand and one different home automation devices either already in existence or being developed as we speak.
From smart light bulbs to smart security cameras to smart speakers, there’s something for every home function possible…or at least there will be soon. Whilst these intelligent pieces of kit are amazing, they wouldn’t be able to do their jobs without the unsung heroes of the home automation world – smart sensors.
Sensors have long been present in many devices around the home. But it’s the ability to control a device from far that still baffles and amuses people and the home automation providers know it.
There are several types of smart sensors that help turn a home into a smart home. As per reports, the smart home security sensors
are the most widely used devices that people look for or want to install in their homes – naturally, security is given top priority.
Let’s look at some other smart sensors and how they benefit us:
...
... Motion detector: Another popular form of smart home security sensors thanks to all the spy movies that display their use. Like the name suggests it’s used to alarm of you any suspicious motion. It can be used both externally and internally for security purposes. Or they could be used to automate the use of lights or air conditioning.
Water leak sensors: Water leakage can lead to several issues. It not only causes water wastage but also property damage. Having such sensors could prove beneficial for the environment as well.
Temperature sensors: Although such sensors are needed in places where the climate is challenging – extreme winter etc. They trigger heating of a room only when it’s needed and cool off a room when the temperature points to heat.
PIR Sensors: If you have children or old people living in your home then these smart home security sensors are a boon to have. They can caution of you any suspicious activity when you’re not home or let you know whether a device is still switched or not by sending you an alert on your phone. It’s security in the palm of your hands.
Door and Window sensors: Leaving doors and windows open is a growing issue in big homes and could pose security threats. Such sensors can alert of you any forced entry or when you simply forgot to close a window.
Wire temperature sensors: They are the smallest kind of sensors almost invisible to see. Attach them on your wires and get alerted of any severe temperature change.
Brightness sensors: If you like your home to be lit in a certain way and according to your mood and time of the day, these sensors will come in handy. They let you control the brightness of the house without much hassle.
As you can there’s an exciting range of sensors that contribute to smart homes. With urbanization picking up its pace, soon every house will have some sort of sensors either for security or leisure.
Smart homes aren’t complicated, they’re actually pretty straightforward. And as any home automation provider might tell you safety and comfort is the essence of the home automation.
