Being confident means staying poised and sensible about your own abilities. It means, you know your strengths and you are being able to streamline those strengths in the right way possible. You might be using various resources for teaching, but for many students, dealing with a new material they don’t know could actually break their self-confidence and make them question on their own intelligence and ability to succeed. Many students undergo this phase, when they are unable to pick up a lesson or when they perform badly in a test paper. There are many ways teachers could help build the students’ confidence in their abilities. Keep reading to know more –

- Appreciate and recognise their Achievements – When students lack confidence, they have a habit of focusing only on the negative aspects of whatever they do. So, make it a point to appreciate whenever they do something correctly, both in private and in front of the classroom. When you praise them, it will ...
... help the student’s understand that you are paying attention to them and help them own up their wins. You can also give them a word of appreciation on a piece of paper, or have a round of applause which can really make a difference in the child’s world.

- Set Realistic expectations – As teachers, it would be really happy for you when every student achieves their feats above the norm. But, it is not the case with every student. So, have clear and practical goals for those students separately, as it can help understand who much they have progressed. Also don’t go with the regular teaching methods. Try to differentiate your teaching with the best teacher resources, which will offer a personalised learning experience and keep the students involved to the lessons.

- Reassure – Mistakes are inevitable, and no student is perfect. Students will low confidence might focus more on the failures they made, rather than looking at the progress they’ve made. Use these failures to teach the students on what the shortcomings were, and how they could overcome them. Try to inculcate positive thoughts in them, with a personalised approach.

- Avoid Comparing the Students – Each student is unique and has their own strengths and talents. As teachers, you must accept the fact that some students might have strong intellectual skills, while others might not. Don’t differentiate between them. This is because, when students feel that they are not being identified in the classroom, they might feel that they are not welcome. So, take note of the different strengths and learning styles your students and creates an effective teaching environment using the teacher resources Australia, which nurtures even the unique abilities of individual students.

Hopefully these tips will help you build your students’ confidence in classroom!
