A Blockchain can be considered as a Database; however, the vice-versa is not true.
There is plenty of confusion as to what a Blockchain is and its chasm with a Database. This article focuses on how Blockchains and Databases are unique from each other.
Blockchains are thought to be complex. Though, at the bottom line, they are not that tough to understand. They are comparable to Databases even though being structurally and functionally different. You can choose for Blockchain Training or a Blockchain Course if you are new to Blockchain and want to learn more about it. So, what makes Blockchains stand apart from data structures?
To have a clear understanding, let's dig deep into the world of Blockchains and Databases.

Learning of the blog:
• Database interpretation
• Blockchain interpretation
• Difference between Blockchain and a Database
• Conclusion

First, let us have an insight into what a Blockchain and a Database mean.

Database interpretation
A Database is a data structure that is used for storing information. It is an organized collection ...
... or storage of data that can store new data or provide access to existing data. The data stored in a database can be organized with the help of a Database management system. Database administrators can modify data stored in a database.

Blockchain interpretation
A Blockchain is a growing list of records, usually referred to as blocks that are interlinked using cryptography. Each block is capable of accommodating a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp, and transaction data. It gives permission for decentralized control and minimizes the risks of data modification by other parties with enough access to the system.

Difference between a Blockchain and a Database
Critical differences between Blockchain and a Database are:

Blockchain

It uses decentralized storage of data.
A Blockchain has no administrator.
Modifying data in a Blockchain does not require permission.
It keeps the present information as well as the past information that has been stored before.
Blockchain is absolute for transaction platforms, but it slows down when used as Databases, especially with an extensive collection of data.
A Blockchain is considered a Database because it is a digital ledger that can store information in data structures.

Database

It uses the centralized storage of data.
A Database requires a Database admin or Database administrator to manage the stored data.
Modifying data in a Database requires permission from the Database admin.
Centralized Databases store up-to-date information at any moment.
Centralized Databases are used as Databases for a prolonged time and have a good performance record, but are slow for specific functionalities.
A Database is known as a data structure that is used for keeping information.

A Blockchain Is Ideal For:
• Public Key Verification
• Decentralized applications (DApps)
• Voting systems
• Monetary transactions
• Transfer of value
• Verification of trusted data

While A Database Is Ideal For:
• Financial data from markets that require fast processing
• Data that does not need verification
• Standalone applications that store data
• Relational data
• Data that need constant updating, like monitoring and sensors
• Fast Online transaction processing
• Confidential information

Key Features of a Blockchain and a Database are as follows:
• Authority: Databases are controlled by the administrator and are centralized. In contrast, Blockchain is decentralized and has no centralized approach.

• Architecture: Database utilizes a client-server architecture, while a Blockchain uses a distributed ledger network architecture.

• Data handling: Database supports Create, Read, Update, and Delete, while Blockchain utilizes Read and Write operations.

• Integrity: Blockchain data supports integrity. Malicious actors can alter the Database's data.

• Transparency: Public Blockchain provides transparency. Databases are not transparent. Only the administrator is the deciding factor of who can access data.

• Cost: Blockchains are comparatively harder to implement and maintain. Database, being an outdated technology, is easy to implement and maintain.

• Performance: Databases are high-speed and offer high scalability. Blockchain is bobbed down by the verification and consensus methods.

Conclusion
Blockchain Training and Blockchain Certifications are springing up because of the belief that it'll revolutionize the world. Here we saw just some of the facts and observations, from a technical perspective. In the end, it is not that Databases are better than Blockchains or Blockchains are superior to Databases. They both have their purpose, and how they are used depends on what you want to do with your data.
