All good things come with a price and plush rugs from Asiatic are no exception. Its thick piles might add necessary luxury to your room but the ultra soft and fluffy texture is tough to clean. Unlike regular floor coverings like machine-made Persian or antique rugs, the dust and dirt settles between the fibres and accumulates within, posing a threat to homeowners allergic to irritants. One has to be extra cautious with them, especially when one grows aware of their intolerance to certain chemicals and steam.

But there’s nothing to stress over for we shall share with you some tips on how to clean your Asiatic Plush rug. A word of advice, before starting off, would be to test small portions on your floor covering to play safe.
Without wasting much time, let’s get you to the cleaning hacks.

1.Vacuum it cautiously
The shaggy beast is too tough to handle, unless of course you know how to use a vacuum for a quick cleaning. Here’s the right way to get it done.

• Spend on a vacuum cleaner that has only suction and no beater bar.
• If you have a tight budget, spend nominal ...
... sum on an upholstery accessory, available at a rugs care store.
• If you are not willing to spend even a penny, make use of a standard vacuum but without its beater bar.

Regarding the technique, always vacuum your shag rug from Asiatic slowly and proceed row wise to knock off the dirt. For ultimate results, run the vacuum at least 2-3 times on a particular spot. This specially applies to light coloured floor coverings, like the Plush Pearl, Plush Sand and Plush White Shagpile rugs.

2.Smack it with a Mop Handle
Get your partner’s help for this method if your shagpile rug is large and bulky. Hang it upside down from a clothesline and beat it with a mop handle to loosen up the dust particles caught up in the thick pile. Also, don’t forget to leave it outside, under the sun, only for a couple of hours to take care of any lingering bacteria.

3.Attempt a Dry Bath
If your Asiatic Plush rug still looks dirty then go for a dry shampoo. All you need is a dry shampoo from a decent brand and a soft bristled brush. As for the technique, sprinkle the dry shampoo all over the rug and leave it to set properly. After this, gently brush it and stick to the manufacturer’s instructions for an effective cleaning.
Regarding the application of this particular method, such a technique best suits the Plush Dusk and Plush Silver shagpile rugs as they feature light tones and easily catch up dirt.

4.Spot Clean it for Better Results
What about those disastrous moments when you accidentally spill liquid on your favourite Plush area rug? Yes, we have all been through such situations. The only way to tackle such a crisis is by spot cleaning the stubborn stain. This involves dabbing a microfibre on the spot to soak up the spilled liquid and dabbing another wet and clean cloth onto it to take care of the stain. Again, a small tip would be to choose an alcohol-free product when using wet wipes and paper towels for the job. Also, stay away from the wrong practice of scrubbing the stain as it might cause damage to the delicate fibre strands.

5.Steam Clean it
There’s another way to deep clean your shaggy rug. Such a method demands both vacuum and steam cleaner for a thorough clean. While the former takes away the dirt in the upper layers, the latter pulls out grime from within. Also, don’t forget to add water and cleaner in measured quantity into the steam cleaner for an effective outcome. The method ends with air drying so always leave it in a well ventilated location for the technique to come off well.

6.Hand-wash it
Sometimes your rug maintenance job requires hand washing and to tend to it, you should dip your shag floor covering into a water and cleaner mixture for about 10 minutes. Scrub it gently with a soft bristled brush to deal with the stubborn stains.

7.Cool Dry it
Such a technique applies only to small-sized Plush rugs as it’s easier to deal with. You just have to run a dryer over it, without heat, to get rid of deep-rooted dust particles.

8.Take it to a Professional Cleaner
Also, if none of the above methods provide you with a deeper clean, go ahead and take your fancied plush floor covering to a professional cleaner. This will save you from a DIY job.
