The Body: The Perfect Machine

Human beings are characterized by being a curious and innovative species, which since ancient times has found in technology a way to "reach perfection"; inventing machines like the computer, cell phones, rockets and cars, man has thought he is about to achieve perfection. However, what man ignores is that the perfect machine already exists, and that its name is "the human body."
The human body is a true machine, which is normally perfectly calibrated for the conservation of "homeostasis" or "balance" through the joint work of numerous systems: a nervous system, with the brain and spinal cord as its main parts, which send signals to other systems of the body to control its operation; a cardiac system, with the heart and blood vessels as protagonists, that are responsible for transporting blood with oxygen and nutrients to all the cells of the organism, and to carry their waste to the lungs; an endocrine system, which secretes hormones from different glands to act in specific white cells that will cause a desired effect in the body. The complex mechanisms by which these and other systems act (such as digestive, respiratory ...
... and immune) and allow a body to maintain its state of health is thanks to the teamwork exercised by the basic functional unit of our body: the cell; Although its size is small, its quantity is numerous, consisting of 100 million gears working together so that the different systems that make up this machine that is the body do it harmoniously.
As a medical student in the fifth semester, I can say that the subject that deeply enchanted me with my career was Physiology and that the tool that helped me understand these complex processes was the book "Guyton Physiology." This is a true instructive about the functioning of the body, which describes from the smallest piece that is the cell to the functioning of each organ, and how it is coupled to its corresponding system. The book has excellent illustrations and schemes that exemplify in a simple and timely manner the described processes, and their explanations are very punctual and understandable. In addition, numerous chapters have descriptions of pathologies associated with the topic being described, and that allows students to not only lay the physiological basis in californiadailyreviewthat every doctor requires, also leads the student to practice the elementary ability to "correlate", and It facilitates future understanding of the pathophysiological processes of diseases that affect our body.
Truly, the book "Guyton Physiology" is the perfect manual for the perfect machine.
