Likewise, you are going to have to be really concerned with the extreme temperatures on the other side of the spectrum. Meaning, that you are going to have to get special coverings and the like for your cages when the weather starts turning colder so that you don't literally freeze your rabbit to death. These are very fickle creatures that need to have the temperature at a constant when and where possible, therefore making them outside pets just might be a little difficult to do, although it is done all the time. It is a lot of work that goes into keeping these pets on the outside.

So what is a more constant temperature than the inside of your home? When it's hot outside, you turn up the air conditioner to keep it at a reasonable temperature inside. Likewise, in the dead of winter you keep the heat on so that you can walk around in a T shirt and shorts if you wanted to. So this is the ideal living conditions, at least temperature wise for your rabbit to live in. You might not have thought about it this way, but you just might be saving a rabbit's life by deciding to make it an indoor pet instead of an outdoor one.

Another thing that you are going to want to consider is that when they are outside, your bunnies are kind of starved for attention. They only get a petting when you happen to head out to their cages and make the time to see them, while if they were in the house you would see them all the time and would likely spend more time being loving with them and growing a special bond. So if this is a pet for a younger child, it can benefit from being able to hold this pet at their leisure and see it when they would like to.

Consider the fact that you are also going to be able to show your children some responsibility keeping the rabbit inside as well. You can monitor all of their activities towards the well being of the animal. You can keep an eye on how hard they are petting or brushing the animal, how much they are feeding the rabbit and making sure that when clean up is required that they are getting the job done right. So there is certainly a benefit to be seen in keeping the rabbit inside and in sight.
